It is thought that the duet on aome of the road project and from the handling of sheep was responsible for the trouble. Forest Clerk Jack O'Neill surprised local officers and friends by taking unto himself a wife on September 24. MiHs Ruby Lewis of Ephraim was the fortunate young lady and the entire force extends congratulations. The Spring City canyon road is now completed tg the top of the mountain in the head of Black canyon and ears are now going to the top for the splendid view it affords. The new section of the road is not nearly as steep as is the road farther down the canyon. An improvement of the Corduroy dug way, through reducing grades, has made it poesible for the average ear to elimb the mountain without any difficulty during dry weather. The distance from the state road at the spring in 8pring City to the top of the mountain is 12.4 miles. Work on the new eanyon road was started on September 19. The work below the forest boundary is being done under the direction of the city authorities of Ephraim. The forest service now has a crew working above the boundary in New canyon. The road work in Twelve Mile canyon has been completed from the Mt Baldy station to Poverty flat. The tractor and grader have smoothed up the new road and a number of forest visitors are taking advantage of the new road to visit this' gorgeously colored area. People who visit the mountains now that the fall colorings are on the trees will be paid for' the trip, since rarely do we have such wonderful colorings as ean bo seen this year. The Manti eanyon road is now completed save for amoothing up with the grader for a distance of approximately three and a half miles down from the top of tho mountain. The distance from the top of the mountain to the state highway will be between thirteen and fourteen miles. Ranger D. II. Williams reports that satisfactory progress is being made on the Ferron canyon road. The section between the sand dugway and Willow lake will be eomplcted within the next few days. Unless storms oeeur there will be considerable danger from fire. We are asking the cooeration of the hunters on the following points: The forest is dry, be rareful with fire because every year fires have been due to carelessness of hunters; dean up your camp ground, burn or bury refuse and and leave the area so that it will be a fit place to camp another year; take your shooting practice outside the forest and away from hunting areas. This will avoid accidents and will not interfere with tho hunting; be careful and not shoot until you see horns. This is a protection to hunters as well as to the protected deer; when you have killed your deer, use your license tag and put your gun away; plav the game fair and do not start hunting the day before the season opens, nor after you have killed your buck.
