A quarrel between the two men, details of whieh are unknown, is believed to have been responsible for tbo alleged murder and suicide. Qualls walked into the ranch house Monday night, told his fellow workers that he shot Kelley five times with a rifle, requested that Sheriff J. B. Skewes be notified of the homicide, and then calmly went to bed. Quails body was found Tuesday morning in the bunkhouse when otluiv employes of the ranch sought to awaken him for breakfast. The top of his head had been blown off with a bullet, fired, officers said, from the same weapon which had been used to kill Kelley. Kelleys body was found in the fields north of the ranch house where the quarrel is believed by Sheriff Skewes to have taken place. Ranch employes reported that bad blood had existed between the two men for several months, although Quails gave no details of the affair when he admitted the (laying. Ranch hands reported they heard no sound of a shot Monday night, but Sheriff Skewes expressed the opinion the rifle was muffled with bed clothing when Qualls assertedly fired the shot which ended his life. Qualls, a native of Kentucky, had been employed at the Pace brothere ranch for eight yean. Kelley, a native of Texas, came te Grand eounty last spring as a prospector and later obtained employment at the ranch, ne Is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Dwyer of Engle- Mns-chc- helper ..... This was too murh for Secretary Welling to solve all by himself, inasmuch as Senator Patterson's homo address is either Price in Carbon county, Moab in Grand county, or both. Senator Patterson was called into the secretarys office to collabor ate on this one. Together they decided that inasmuch as Senator Patterson was elected to represent District 12, he should stick to that district, re gardlrM of where he lives. Ho will, therefore, represent Emery, Grand and San Juan counties in the next legislature and the election proclamation will authorise Carbon eounty, or District 14, to elect the new senator. The reapportionment bill raises no such complications as to the house of representatives, q a full membership ia eleeted at every election. A somewhat similar instance is that of Senator George Jefferson of Milford who was elected to represent Beaver, Iron and Washington eountis. The roapportionment bill, however, places Beaver and Millard eounty together to form District 8. Senator Jefferson will thereforo be representative of Millard eounty in the next Mil-lar- d legislature, although residents of have never had the opportunity of voting for or against him as the bill specified that the holdover senator from the old district should servo his nnexpired term in the new Die-tric- t ...19 SHAMPOO. 5-Po- nnd 9te tSs m 3 for 25c Colon.... m 15c no. Welling and Senator Knox Patterson of Price have had quite a time deciding just what the latter will represent in the senate this year. The rcapportion-mebill passed by the last legislature is responsible for some intonating puzzles and odd situations. Senator Knox Patterson, holdover, was sleeted to represent Carbon, Emery, Grand and San Juan counties. The apportionment bill set Carbon county aside from this group to form the new District 14.
