The Kansas City Star, In commenting upon Mia. Warren's Profesaljn," ays as follows: Of late Kanaas City haa been subject to sudden aquella of nervous-nea- e which have manifested themselves In various ways. Certain politicians who are called upon to do reform stunts, are bewildered by the very novelty of the thing, and as a result they flounder more or leu helplessly In their effort! to conform to the public program. Reform does not come easy to those who have fig ured actively In problems In which there woe no moral question and attll less restriction of conscience. Thus far Kansas City knows nothing of Profesaion" except "Mrs. Warren's what haa come out of New York, which la tbe moat unreliable source of any aewe concerning reapectlbll-It- y In thle country. The original Shaw play, aa produced In New York, waa forced to close, owing to police interference. The piece was duly tried In the United States supreme court, and waa found to be quite within the requirements of the law. The police commissioner have not molested some of the worst things that hare been put on the local stage things worse than Mrs. Warren's Profession' evar was. Why should this sudden moral spasm bunt upon a play that has not yet appeared, when all winter lung plays and vaudeville stunts have been given at various theater that were without even the poor Justification claimed hy Mlaa for Mrs. Warren' ProfesUoghlan sion?' If the police are looking for indecency, why do they not visit some of our vaudeville houses and buries-qiitheaters? They might certainly there find something to shock their sense nf propriety. Those who attend such plays as Mrs. Warren's Profesaion know in a general way what they are going to pee and hear. Why should the police begin on a play which haa already paused the censorship of the New York supreme court? And why should they not arrest managers and players who are nightly presenting in this city degrading stage noveKlea that have no reaam or Justification, except that they win the applause of the ribald and die Innately immoral?
