Alblni, MONDAY AT THE GRAND Mr. Walker Whiteside will be seen at the Grand in a new play, "The Magic Melody," which was written for him by the author of "We Are King." The story of the new play deale with the fortunes of Helmar, a young German violinist, who cnme to America at an early age and who was bo fortunate as to find a home with Mre. Zellner, a German woman who had at one time been a famous pianlate. Betides Helmar, ahe had given the shel- - play open at the hums of Mrs. Zellner in the early and she is discovered with Clara UougUus, a daughter of a I'uiied Stales senator with a penchant fur literary work. Clorit Fielding, a pupil of Mra. Zellner, enters, she iH the ward of a nvtdi-rCroesus. Jordan Hawker. Miss Fielding has met the young musician Helmar and is interested in him. Raw-- , kcr and Sylvester Hargrave, who is really Lord Kildare in mine to the ci.nage in an disgulae, automobile to take Cloris home. Helmar is introduced to them and Hawker, who wishes to pose as a modern Maecenas, becomes interested in the young n and promises to help him. ti also enters the room and thlnka he recognize in Hawker the man who stole hla sweetheart many years ago, and seeks and obtains a position in the household of Hawker as a servant. Event progress swiftly in the see. ood act, which takes place a few ninths later in Jordan Hawkers magnificent city residence. Hawker baa arranged to give an elaborate subscription concert with the idea of endowing a school of music, lie has engaged the greatest singers at unheard of prices and he has derided that Helmar shall make hi debut at this concert. He has not forgotten, in the midst of his preparations, to urge his ward to accept the hand of Hargrave. Like many other rich Americans he wanls hia ward to marry a title and Is willing to pay liberally for it. During his conversation he tells Hargrave how easy a man can make a fortun. In Wall street If he only had a tew more tips without thinking that Hargrave would know enough to utilise the information. Hel-mis aummened to play for the director of the concert and he reports to Hawker that the young man would do for a roof garden, but not to play with great artists. Hawker, who la thoroughly selfish, ' rather than to jeopardize hit concert tails Helmar that he cannot play. Helnur has that Giantl is determined in kill Hawker because Hawker had stolen his sweetheart from him and ha has also found conclusive proofs that he, himself, is Hawker's son and that hit mother had been basely deserted. Goaded by these thoughts he demands of Hawker that he he permitted to play. Hawker locks at him with astonishment and nnoerlngly aka what right he haa hi make such a demand of the man whu has done so much for him. 'ity the right of heritage; because I am your son," ho replies. The third art again returns to the home of Mr. Zellner. It Is . New Year's eve. Hargrave haa taken advantage of Rawkeria tips and has made a fonuue. In reality be waa nut seeking to marry an heiress and still carefully keeping his title unknown he wo-- e and marries liars Douglass. They are driven by the storm to seek shelter In Mrs. Zellner'e cottage, and soon after their arrival Giantl appears on the acene drunk. Helmar enters and Gland tells hrw he killed, as he thought. Hawker. Helmar knowing that Hawker was not seriously injured, thinks It heat to keep Giantl In Ignorance of the truth and arranges for him to aail to Italy the following day. Helmar tells Mra. Zellner how bta hoiies uud ambitions have been blasted by n rruel U tter from Cloris which bad been written at the dictation of Hawker before he learned that Helmar was hla son. At this Juncture Hawker enters the rupm and accuses Helmar of having spirited hla ward away. Belflah to the last he wee determine,! that she should marry the title, even if It broke the heart of hia own son. Helmar convinces him that he does not know where Cloris is and a striking scene between father and ion ensues. They finally mutually agree that their lives hava nothing in common and that each shall go hla own way. After Hawker leave, Cloris enters and the curtain falls as the lovers are clasped in each others arms. - 5 t ' - : y v L 'f Scene fcom v. . ,'f $ The f Magic Melody power plant of other salmon, lakes from any of tha streams manufacturing concent run by water iff waters at thla or any other slate, power and having eltkcr bead or tall provided that persona rare hi tig fish races, without first furnishing and under ibl section may sell to private maintaining suitable screens or other parties fur their own use and in prosdMvlne to prevent the fish from enterecutions hereunder it shall be suffiing therein; mid screens to be built cient to allege generally that such and maintained uafA the direction of fish were unlawfully held,, and proof the chief warden ;jid at the expense of the sale to dehlere or of the- offer of said owner or owners or operators ing or exposing for sale of sny aueh of said mill, factory, power plant or verities or species of fish, shall be other manufseinrlng concerns; pro- prtma facie evidence that they were It shall be n misdevided, that the woolen factory race at unlawfully held Provo, lTiah county, this state, through meanor for any person to lake, catch which fish reach Spring Lake, be made nr have in his possession more than au exception to these obligations; and fifteen pouuds of any ons or more of provided, further, that the owner or said varieties or aperies of fish on any owners or operators of said woolen one day, for domestic use or any other factory or other factories or mills sit- .purpose; and in prosecutions mill,, factory, E LAW BY- - UST THE UTAH Blank Form of License to be Filled Fishermen PASSED LEG SLATURE Out by the Hunters and Dates of the Open and Closed Seasons Many Changes in the Law. other purposes, deemed by him to be In the Interests of the fish and game Industry of the state.
