The residents of the city very kindly placed a large number of rooms at the disposal of the committee, but. as we expect delegates, we are still In need of rooms in private families. Another appeal will be made the last of this week to private families and we feel sure of securing the required number of rooms. Within the past two days a number of prominent families have greatly aided the committee by kindly tendering spare rooms which may be used by visiting teachers. Yesterday Mrs. 'David Bccles kindly volunteered to entertain a number of the delegatee, and, if wv can And a few more such hospitable homes, our work will soon be ended." It is to be hoped that the residonta, who are centrally located, will decide If they have not already done so, to accommodate some.of these teachers, and thuu save the' visitors front the trouble Snd expense which would result from their having rooms which are not conveniently located. This will be one of the largest gatherings of Its kind that Ogden has Usd since the National Irrigation congress. aud It will be a rare opportunity for the city, to get some good and If these deleeffective advertising. gates are pleasantly entertained, and there is no question but that they wlll.be, they will return to their schools and sing the pralsea of Ogdens hospitality,, thrift and progressiveness in the eager ears of the 72.-school children of this state. WANTED MISCELLANEOUS- Furnished rooms suitable for gentlemen. 1 0 23rd. Ben- FIRST CLASS board and room BOARD and room. St at Lake Herald says: The The Salt Lake Real Estate association has gone on record ussnlraously, as opposed to the creation of a state railroad commission for Utah and to all prospective legislation hoMile In any way to the best Interests of railroad operating In the state. This action was taken at a full meeting of the association held yesterday afternoon at the Commercial club, called for the special purpose of taking action on the railroad commission question. The decision to oppose the creating of such a commission in this state and to fight all proposed legislation hostile to local railroad Interests Is one of the most important and significant moves the real estate board has ever made. The action was brought about through a request from C. O. Harris of Salt Lake, representing the Manufacturers A Merchants' association of this city, that the board make known its position in the matter of a bill being Introduced Into the state legislature this winter providing for the creation of the railroad commission In question. Mr. Harris was present at yesterday's meeting and addressed the real estate dealers at length on the question, declaring that this Manufacturers A Merchants' association Is backing the bill now being framed to create a state railroad commission for Utah and dwelling on what the association considers the necessities for such legislation. finished Mr. Harris had scarcely when K. F. CoHiorn. president of the Real Estate association, was on bis feet and In decisive language announced that he believed the Real Estate association could make no graver mistake than to go on record as fostering state legislation of the nature advocated by the Manufacturers A Merchants' association, relative to tbe creation of a railroad commission, to run the railroads of the state, and that, on the contrary. It should be the policy end announced Intention of tbe real estate board to assume tbe most friendlv attitude possible toward local railroads, living to get more roads Into the state, ratber than drive out those already here. Continuing, President Colburn.point-e- d out the folly of creating a commission to harass railroads that have already announced plans for millions of In dollars worth of Improvements terminals, nhw depots and immense car shops for Salt Lake. President Colburn declared emphatically that the Interstate commerce commission recently crested by congress has proved Itself competent and willing to redress the wrongful acts of railroads in this and every other state In the Union and that tfin commission needed no help from subordinate state commissions. E. B. Palmer, of Stowe A Palmer, folowed President Colburn In addressing tbe real estate men. Mr. Palmer declared that what Utah and Salt Lake needed most at present is outside capital and that the commercial Interests of the state and city should make every effort to promote the bringing lu of such capital. Continuing along these tinea. Mr. Palmer said that the is due to present prosperity of Utah and labor the stability of Hs capital conditions and that this should be preserved at all hsxaida.
