Thoueande of persons, men. women and children, principally children, crowded the streets of Ogden yesterday to witness the parade of Ring-linBrother' circus. It was the best prade which Ogden has ever seen, and that is saying a great deal. From the moment when the first blare of the trumpets announced the approach of the big parade, until the last gilt and gold float passed, the crowd, especially the younger members, were loud and enthusiastic In expression of delight and wonderment. The parade not only brought out all the younger members of Ogden's population. hut drew iliuusauds of persons from the surrounding towns and villages. Many of them waited hours for the parade, but all seemed to think, that it had been when It finally worth the wait. The mothers engaged wafting occupied all steps and other places of vantage along the line of march, and 'consoled thrir' Jmpatleut little charges with prediction of the lo come aa well aa with splendors , poiK-orniieauuis. candy and other sweets, which played an important ari In consoling the small wallers. The parade itself was fully up to the promises of the advance not ties, which is high praise. First rame a band playing patriotic airs. Then came the gill wagons carrying the animals. The parade today differed from manjr circus parades in that the animals were exposed to view, instead of being In covered cages. This was a feature of the parade which esiecialiy delighted the children. Many were the expressions of delight at the sight of the tigers, Ilona, lionesses, panthers and other animals. The bears, with the antic which bears always display when they feel they are on exhibition, were one of the most popular features of the parade. In one of the cages waa a lion tamer, with five of hia fierce charges. Hully gee, look at bis Nibs in de cage wld de Ilona, exclaimed one small ragged enthusiast, as that particular wagon passed. "Howd you like dat job, Mickey? Not to me for a thousand plunks er day. A jiolnt of nlew la yhlrh Mickey seemed to agree. The cages in which were (he hippopotami and a few larger tropical animals were covered, bqt. the children got almost as much fuu out of imagining what the anlmala inside looked like as they did in the case of the animals exposed to view. Following the animal wagons came floats f various sorts, resplendent in gilt, gold, flags and bunting, and representing the different countries of the came the feature world. Then of the parade, which seemed to lie the most popular of all (he elephants. The elephant exhibition was the best whteh has ever been seen in Ogden. In the parade this morniug were nearly forty of the large beasts. They marched with a dignity which seemed lo show that, they appreciated they were the moat important part of the parade. With the passing of the elephants the big parade came to an end. The crowd gave a sigh of pleasure, evidently with the feeling that the parade had amply repaid for the long wail in the sun. . Thfe grownups were satisfied with one view of the parade, but many of the children were not. Aa soon as the parade had passed they promptly scant! ie red across streets lo some plat where they could view all the wonders a second, per haps a third time. Throe views of a parade and an afternoon or an evening spent In seeing a circus are about what an Ogden lav considers a good circus day. The circus is the best ever seen in Ogden. Aside from the acts common lo all big circuses there will be a grand pageant, Jerusalem and the Crusades, which is one of the most spectacular spectacles ever planned for the amusement-lovinpublic. Another feature is Crazo. who leaps the gap, the most thrilling act which has yet lieen presented, one which makes last- years looping the loop look like a man standing still. The circus arrived in Ugden early by special yesterday. It traveled train, in fact it really requires live trains all to the animals, carry special performers and pharaphcrnalla used eighty-seveas the by Ulngllng Bros., cars used by the circus arrived in five sections from Cheyenne. As soon as the first section strived at 3 a. m. the circus uten went to work without waiting for the arrival of the rest of the trains. First the ruga pieces of canvas were hauled out of the train. They were unfolded, kn operation something like the unfolding of a big carpet. .but Infinitely more difficult on account of the- - size and weight of the canvas. To handle the big canvas would have been impossible except for the trained men. But the circus employees are specialist In iheir work. With a few dexterous twists they began to unroll the canvas. Boon they had it unrolled .on the ground. Then the poles were attached to the canvas. Little by little the poles were raised, the wind filled the while canvas and In what seemed an incredibly short time after the arrival of the find section of the circus train the first big t was up. This operation was repeated with tent after tent until all the tents required for the housing of the 4lg show were in place. As soon ss the tents were up the transfer of the animals to them l)riRn. All the animals were moved in closed rages and the best ho crowd could do was to 'listen lo The growls and sounds of protest from the animals as their cages were pushed and moved about in what must have seemed to them an inexplicable manner. The cfmis utilizes at night a complete electric lighting plant which enhances the beauties of the performance ten fold. g rj , B Aug. 8.
