Show TRUTH. 10 pany's property near Green River had been resumed. Twice the company has been delayed in the process of sinking bv the breaking of the drill stems. The management now has two new drill stems on the ground and work will be begun today and can go forward uninterrupted. ft ft Walker Bros are leasing their Green river oil lands to Colorado parties who will at once proceed to do development work. ft ft In refering to the developments on the property of the San Rafael Oil com. pany, the Emery County Progress says: The meager reports so far received state that the pressure of gas, accompanying the oil strike, was powerful enough to throw oil, water and sand far above the top of the derrick. Contractor Bougher and his assistants were obliged to run to a place of safety, and as the subterranean force gave no signs of abating, the contractor hurried to Price Wednesday and after wiring Manager Davis, who is in Boston, of the lucky strike, he went to Salt Lake, where some apparatus will be secured to shut off the oil and gas pressure. The well is GOO feet deep and for the past 300 feet the drills have been pounding on a hard, sharp sand containing more or less black stuff resembling gilsonite. At times the gas from the well has been so strong as to stop work. The oil strike at GUO feet was entirely unexpected, hence the company was not prepared for the event. The strike proves conclusively that the Sindbad valley is a great oil basin. The well is but 30 miles south of Castle in the Spring Valley field and will sink wells at once. He will pay L. E. Neber-gal- l a royalty of 10 per cent on all oi produced. Deseret News. ft ft Sundance, Wyo., Feb., 17. Manager Weiss of the Butte Crude Petroleum company, which is operating near here, says the casing ordered some time ago will arive in a few days when operations will be resumed. The drill has been driven to a depth of several hundred feet and the indications are that a large supyly of high grade petroleum will be struck. ft ft Internal Revenue Collector Callister returned Thursday from a trip to his ranch in Wyoming, which is in the vicinity of the oil fields between Spring Valley and the Aspen tunnel; He says there is great activity in oil development in that region. Eleven boring rigs are being put down and will be working in a very short time. This spring at least $250,000 will be spent in the further search for oil, which has already been found in quantities sufficient to make it practically certain that lakes of it exist lower down. ft ft State Superintendent of Schools Nelson, County Superintendent Ashton, City Superintendent Christensen and other prominent educators have gone to Chicago to attend the national convention of school superintendents. They will be away ten days or two weeks. Following is a complete list of the oil companies that have been organized in Utah, forty-seve- n in number. These corporations have all been organized within the present year, except Dale. the Juab Oil and Coal company, which was ft ft formed in 1894. The latter will probably be placed in the Sindbad valley, and the work will be under the supervision of Samuel MacEarchen, a prominent engineer and contractor for oil wells. He had his ups and downs, made a large fortune and by reverses lost most all of it. He was genial and kindly with a warm heart and an impulsive nature.
