Rev. and Mrs. Millidge Walker left for the West during the week. Mrs. F. A. Vincent will entertain at a series of three afternoon functions, the Ark., is the guest of Bishop Leonard while in the city en route to Ely, Nev. Social Elfe. The reception and musicale given by Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Miller on Tuesday evening was at once one of the most novel and delightful of social functions. As it was an organ! recital, it was given Mrs. In the Congregational church. Miller has been stdying the pipe organ for some years. So quietly and unassumingly has she pursued the study that few of her friends knew the proficiency she had attained until Tuesday evenings program was rendered, when Mrs. Miller played seven long numbers with skill that betokened knowledge and mastery of the Instrument. The beau, tiful stained glass window on the west was lighted up by electric globes placed on the outside with exquisite effect. At the close of the recital the sliding doors separating the Sunday-schorooms from the auditorium were opened and disclosed a charmingly arranged where in a bower of reception-roopalms, flowers and artistic draperies, stood the host and hostess assisted by Mr. and Mrs. Percy Somers Cocks, to d receive their guests. In the alcoves formed in the north and south corners of the large room, punch was served by Mrs. Hosmer and Miss Salisbury. Separated from the larger room could be seen the beautifully appointed refreshment table, from which ices and coffee were served. About two hundred guests were present, and from every side comes the warmest praise and admiration for the originality displayed In the delightful evenings entertainol 9 Mr. and Mrs.. E. Hawver returned trip. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Holt of Pocatello are visiting in the city. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Walker and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Walker give a tea this afternoon in honor of Mrs. Foote. About three hundred invitations have been issued, in which the gentlemen are included. Mrs. Graham F. Putnam will give a piano recital for her pupils next Tuesday evening, January 21st, at her home, 131 South Eighth East street. Friends are cordially Invited without further invitation. Last Monday was a gala day for the Reviewers club, when Mrs. Charles G. Plummer entertained most delightfully the club and a few chosen friends in honor of their esteemed president, Mrs. Elmer B. Jones. The club idea prevailed In all the appointments and the club colors, red and pink, were seen throughout the decorations. The delicious buffet luncheon of five courses was served at 1 oclock after which the club met in regular session. The program for the day oonsisted of a review of Lord Jim, and Mrs. Jones gave a paper on Jack London, the California writer. Those present besides the guest of honor were Mesdames W. F. Adams, H. W. The decorations were In yellow and white, and were carried throughout with charming effectiveness. first two being given Tuesday and Wednesday, the 21st and 22nd, while the third and last one of the series will be Tuesday, the 28th. Mrs. Loomis will OF entertain with Mrs. Vincent at the first one of the series, on the 21st of January.
