Show Stake project cleans trash from highways A Urge group of young people in the Roosevelt West Stake participated in a joint service project last Saturday, covering main highways throughout the stake gathering trash. Aaronie Priesthood and Young Women members from all five wards and White rocks Branch participated in the project Roads were cleaned from Myton to Roosevelt, and from Roosevelt to NeoU. The crews from Sixth Ward, working the Ioka Junction, gathered six pickup loads of trash, topping all er wards. They also had the greatest-numbin from of people participating. All of the Scouts in the stake, instead of cleaning along the Highways, dug into the weeds on the lot near the new stakehouse. After the project was completed, all participants returned to the stake house for a dinner. A program followed, with entertainment by Dave Holmes. Hatch, who use to live here in Ballard for several years and then moved to Hancock Cove, where he lived for some time before moving to Orem, Utah where he made his home permanently, was killed Wednesday, October 6 about 3 miles east from Kinner, Wyoming, when he was walking on U. S. 28. Earl was killed when a pickup truck hit him. The accident occured as he stopped the truck he was using to tow a diesel tractor and was walking on the road to recover a gas cap that had fallen from the tractor. At the time, he was an employee of the Wright Drilling Company and was working on the Riverton Reclamation Project. His son Brent, and a were also working with him on this construction. Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Sworts from Carbon City, Utah visited at the Telintha Rasmussen home last week. They were planning on leaving for a Caribean Cruise for 1 week, then spending the winter in St. George, Utah. Mrs. Sworts is the former Ruth Sprouse, that use to live here in Ballard. Jeff Winn has gone to Cedar City where he will continue his education at the Southern Utah State College. Margie McKinley and family from Richfield was home with her parents, the Earl Gardners for the weekend. Mr. and Jdrs. Don Held of Salt Lake spent Sunday at her mother's home, Anna Johnson. Telintha Rasmussen has another grandchild born October 6, 1976 at the Kaiser Hospital in Hayward, Calif. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Huntzinger and weighed 8 lbs. 8W os. and will be named Dan ha Elizabeth. Other grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ivon Huntzinger of American Fork. Celia Kay Allsop and sons from Bountiful spent the long weekend at her parents, the Cecil Jenkins. Recently the Farrell Rasmussens attended the Canada Halifax LDS Missionary reunion in Salt Lake. The Rasmussens spent 18 months in Canada on an LDS mission. Mr. and Mrs. Monte Poulson from Rockland, Idaho are here viaiting at their daughters, the Karl Shislers, and other son-in-la- relatives in the area. e Some friends of the Farrell Rasmussens, Thelma Clark and Hellon McDonald, from Nova Soda, Canada came to Salt Lake and the Rasmussen's met them there, they all went through the LDS temple together. Later they went to SL George where the Rasmussens stayed with the. Kenneth Allreds, and all went through th temple there. They also visited Las Vegu on their way home they visited Zion and Bryce Canyons and went through the Mantl Temple, e Mr. and Mra. Arthur Averett have a new granddaughter born October 7, 1976 in the Vernal Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Max Averett She weighed 7 lbs and 4 ox. and will be named Judy Kay. Other grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Duncan of Neda. e Mrs. Patricia Weaver from BatesvUle, Arkansas has come here to make her ' home. She is living in a trailer house by the Arthur Averetts, Mrs. Averett is her sister. e The Ballard Choir will start again. Mrs. Rose Miller is in charm. Next Sunday, October 17 at 6:80 will be the first meeting. e Mr. and Mrs. Lee Marett are visiting at their parents home, the Karl Shislers for the weekend, the Maretts live in Price. e Aneita Ercanbrack attended the UEA in Salt Lake last week, e Buzz and Mary Larson have moved back to Ballard and are living in their home here. BLUEBELL By Ssshy e Alice Beal and sons Bobbie and Randy were visiting in Bluebell on Sunday with friends. Randy is just out of the army after spending 10 years there. It has been 10 years since the Beal fomfiy left Bluebell. They now live in LehL e Mrs. Lois Goodrich spent a few days in Salt Lake taking eare of Jay and Carolyn Goodrich's children while they went to Lake Powell on vacation. She brought another grandson, Todd Johansen home with her while his parents, Ryan and Owens went to California on a combined business and 1 0 STANDARD October 14. 1776 pleasure trip. e Funeral services were conducted for Walter Paoge Remington on Wednesday, at 1 p.m. in the Altamont chapel with Bishop Bruce Goodrich conducting. They visited Lucik'a brother Bill Merrell who is recovering from surgery. They also visited with the family of Mrs. Beatrice Merrell is recovering from major surgery and was in intensive care. The Merrell's live in Moses Lake, Wash. e Mrs. Marie Roper accompanied her sister, Lois Horrocks from Vernal went to Salt Lake Saturday to attend funeral services of an aunt, Ida Kirkham, age 96 years. e Mr. and Mrs. Rush Loertscher drove to Orem to attend a missionary reunion for Shana Lee. She and Rush sang several numbers. Dean and Marlene Roberts of Bountiful spent the weekend here caring for their garden and form things. e Mr. and Mrs. Roger Benson were hosts to family members of Bill and Joey Benson. They served a lovely dinner. The occasion was the blessing and naming of the Bill Bensons baby, e Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Winkler and Fran Benson joined Fran's husband, Roger over in the Manila, Daggett area on an elk hunt Roger was one of the lucky elk hunters. Also Edwin Cook and Tommy Thacker were lucky elk hunters, having bagged their elk. e Lorene Hoyt of Salt Lake City is here visiting her sister, Mrs. Ruth Winkler and family.
