Show THE REVIEW, U. P. W. O. CONVENTION. The U. F. W. C. held its regular business meeting in the Con- gregational Church parlors Saturday Oct. 23rd. The clubs were all represented excepting the Springville Womans Club. There were many matters of business considered. In the matter of free traveling libraries Mrs. Ritchie read extradls from several reports of the New York State Traveling Library Association, showing how the work was accomplished, in that State, and the very favorable results of the experiment. Mrs. Halm had been appointed a committee of one to investigate and report methods employed in other States, and upon leaving the city, the work was turned over to Mrs. Ritchie, who is strongly in favor of the Federation undertaking this work. A plan was suggested by her favoring the donation of a book by every club woman, for the purpose of starting one library at least. It was voted that a committee of five be appointed to devise ways and means of carrying out the suggestion. Discussion as to the means of obtaining the books suitable followed, and the following suggestions were made. 1st. That the committee make out a list of books wanted and a copy of this list be sent to every 4 club. 2nd. That the clubs prepare a list of books especially needed in their course of study and notify the committee. 3rd. That any book be donated, the committee to be empowered to turn any book not suitable for the purpose over to the public or school libraries. This matter was left in the hands of the committee without further adtion. After hearing a communication read from the G. F. W. C. urg-inthe State Federation to cooperate with the State Teachers g n.and to hold joint meetings if possible, it was resolved to undertake this if the plan meets with the approval of Dr. Mills paugh and the Assn. Mrs. Alc- - Ass Vicker was appointed a committee of one to consult with the officers of the Assn and report what may be done. b Reapers Club ' Mrs. Carrie Thomas, Salt Lake City. Inquirers Glub. The suggestion of the Presi- dent of the State Federation at the meeting last Saturday in regard to officially inviting the the club women visiting Denver next June to extend their trip a far as Salt Lake, was not a died upon. This would be a most courteous thing to do, and we feel sure had the day not been crowded so full of regular business the Federation would have voted to have sent such an invitation, and a committee created to arrange for the reception and entertainment of those women who could avail themselves of the invitation. This can probably be done by Executive Board, and the Utah club women, who were in the vanguard of State Federation work, have an opportunity to clasp the right hand of fellowship with their conservative |
