Show rn uu DIXIE COLLEGE, SAINT GEORGE, VOLUME IV. LEADERSHIP WEEK IS A BID SUCCESS The annual Leadership week at the Dixie College closed January 18. It was from every puint of view a decided success. Large crowds thronged thebuild-in- g at every session. The general sessions were spirited and enthusiastic and carried with them an inspiration for more intelligent leadership. President Edward H. Snow in the opening address of the week, gave the keynote of the convention: We must show our love for, and service to God by serving better our fellowmen. Claud C. Cornwall, field secretary of the M. I. A., and W. 0. Robinson, representing the general M. L A. board, assisted by B. Glen Smith, Arthur K. Hafen, Lucy A. Phillips and Mrs. May W. Hunt of the College, W. 0. Bentley, Supt. of the County Schools, were in charge of the departmental work of the week. Mr. Cornwalls lectures, interpreting the life of the adolescent boy, were a source of inspiration as was evidenced by the overcrowded sessions. His plea was for intelligent understanding of the young people and their problems, and the proper use of leis- In reporting the concert to Supt. Adam S. Bennicn, Claude Cornwall said that he had never heard anything finer in his life. It was a rare treat in every respect and would have done credit to any institution in the land. On both Friday and Saturday evening social dancing was enjoyed. The demonstration dancing of W. 0. Robinson with the assistance of Miss Bessie McArthur, was thoroughly enjoyed. The Gymnasium was crowded to its capacity both evenings. Realizing the value of such courses, plans are already underway to make the Leadership Week next season bigger than ever. It is hoped that greater emphasis can be placed on the social dancing, perhaps securing the services of some expert for several weeks at least. V How to Figure the V alue Of An Education It is estimated that a liberal education multiplies the value of a life career over a common school and high school education by 9 Over a common school education by 215. Over no school education by 817. If you have a common school education, your life is worth 3 times as much to the world as though you had no education. If you have a high j school education, your life is worth 23 times as much as if you had only a common school education and 87 times as much as if you had no education. The award is to be made to some worthy student as the school and its officials deem advisable. Scholarship, service and attitude are to be considered as factors in making the decision. The College greatly appreciates this gift for its intent and for its intrinsic value. It may mean a year of college training to some student who would not otherwise attend school. Such thoughtful gifts cannot be too highly appreciated and commended. HOOPSTERS ARE NOW VERY ACTIVE The murmur goes through the student body that Dixie is going over the top in athletics and , that resolve is founded on fact. The set backs the teams have suffered in practice games and at the hands of the Sanpeters has generated a fighting spirit that the bull-do- g might envy.
