One of the main reasons for this shortage, according to the IPAA committee on oil field material shortages, is the policy of the state department in issuing priorities for foreign shipments of the vital hiaterials and the instate department sistence, that preference be given by manufacturers to export shipments regardless of the needs of domestic producers and consumers. Note Reserves Underground: reserves, the committees study disclosed, are at an all-tihigh in the United States and completely adequate to serve the domestic requirements in the foreseeable future. The committee summarized its finding and recommended to the Interior Department that steps be taken to eliminate the causes of the steer goods shortage.
