Show 2. The Western Minerot Survey, Spit Loke City, Utoli ; Scrugham Pleased With Recent Hearings D. WASHINGTON, C- - ''Throughout the mining areas of the west there is a universal demand for stockpiling of strategic minerals to provide, for a long war and to conserve shipping, said Sen. James G. Scrugham of Nevada, chairman of the mining end minerals' industry subcommittee of the Senate committee on small business. Senator Scrugham and Sen. C. D. Buck of Delaware have recently returned from holding a series of hearings in six western states.- Sen. J. E. Murray of Montana, chairman of the full committee, attended several of the . fieli hearings. ..They expressed the opinion that the hearings did a great deal of good, as evidenced by the large turnout and the large number of formal statements the subcommittee from mining men throughout the area visited. The delays in the development of stockpiles by the War Production Board were especially criticized by many witnesses. These statements are now being analyzed by the staff and a report will be.' issued shortly by the subcommittee. - . eceived 'Sunshine' Has Development Sunshine WALLACE, Ida. Mining Co.s preliminary for the first quarter of report 1943 shows an estimated net mine income of $162,021.96 as compared with $286,159.91 for the corresponding period of 1942. Reviewing the mine development during the first three months of this year, Manager R. D. Leisk says: "On the Yankee Girl vein on the 3,100 level the east drift was e ore advanced 96 feet in and the west drift- was driven 244 feet in ore in this period, Icjving 320 feet to drive to connect the two .faces. The 2,705 Yankee Girl crosscut was' advanced 443 feet, leaving only a short distance to drive to reach the projected position of the Yankee Girl zone." The Yankee Girl is an entirely new. Sunshine development on a "parallel mineral zone located approximately 1,000 feet 'south of the Sunshine vein, says Wallace Miner. No production has ever been made from this zone, except the ore removed in the present development work. The Sunshine Co. has developed a new ore: body which may prove to as great have tonnage reserves as the original ' Sunshine vein. low-grad- Company, Salt Lake City, Utah, on or before the 30th day of September A.
