While I was on the train, coming from Salt Lake City to this city 1 saw quite a few poor people through the state of Nevada, and thought that the people of Utah should be very thankful for such pood homes. These poor people even told boys ou the cars that they did not have half enough to eat, and they certainly looked like it, At all the stations in California, through which we passed, the people were pleased ' to see us, and they said that they hoped and prayed that we wnld return in safety once more, which I hope we will. We left Ft. Douglass last Friday at 4:15 p. m, and arrived at San Francisco on Sunday at 11 a, m. I do not know bow long we shall stay Here for we might leave for the Philippines at any time, hot 1 would like very much for my old friends all to write to me.
