La Plata, Pioneer" : Mining Camp, May It was the concensus of opinion that the story of purported conditions in Wheeler basin was printed with the view of again causing trouble for the city commission. However, according to the commissioners, the chlorinated waters of Wheeler creek had been turned out of the system prior to the printing of the story. Further precautions to keep the watershed free from contamination were taken when the commission ordered that the city attorney proceed under the state law aimed at the protection of watersheds, to notify owners of livestock ranging in Wheeler asin that they would be called to account under the law. It was also brought out at the meeting that Dr. T. B. Beatty had ordered the discontinuance of use of the waters of Coldwater canyon. When the water waa turned out of the city mains it ran into the fountain on the Ogden and canyon highway, which Dr. Beatty had H. L. Male, passed his deputy, numerous times. It was pointed out that they had allowed residents of Ogden to drink the water in the canyon, but that they had ruled it must not be used in Ogden City.
