Browning, worlds most noted firearms inventor, and his g J. Ed. Browning, now president of the company. It was Arch Browning, general manager of the company with headquarters in Salt Lake, who visioned groat things for the automobile industry back in 1901 when he worked as a bicycle repairer in the shop of the illustrious Brownings. He first induced the elder associates to handle automobiles along with other commodities. The first car handled by Brownings was the old White steamers, this firm bringing in the first of this type of cor to Utah. The group of factory officials was headed by E. M. Lubeck, sales executive western division, who stated that tentative plans of the company call for the sale of 270,000 Oakland and Pontiac Sixes during 1928 against a total of 191,000 in 1927. The Oakland Motor Car company jumped from ninth place in total sales during 1926 to fifth place last year, said Mr. Carman. tremendous plant expansion providing larger manufacturing facilities for both the Pontiac Six and the Oakland Six; coupled with an equally great (1,250,000. in the size of the Oakland- increase One of the secrets of the firms success, according to Frank M. Browning, manager of the Ogden branch, is the fact that members of the family are all interested actively in its management. The company has four retail outlets, each managed by a son of J. Ed Browning, the firms presi dent. Arch is general manager and takes care of the Salt Lake branch. Frank is manager at Ogden, where the Browning boys were bom and raised. Ed. Browning is the manager of the Idaho Falls branch, and MileB J. Browning is manager of the Twin Falls store which was established last year. Roswell D.
