It is surprising that Governor Dern should treat Ogden City so shabbily in this matter. JStm 4 Why? The trustworthy friend or near relative may or may not have the ability to step into your place and efficiently conduct your business. He certainly has not the ability unless his successful business experience has been equal to your own. Not one relative in one hundred can qualify under this test. Even if the individual pns sessos all the qualifications, he may die or be incapacitated before your estate is settled. The trust company does not die; and it does possess the executive ability to handle your affairs; moreover. it is impartial and will proceed legally with a minimum expense to the estate. A trust company not only has the ability, the eperience and the legal advice at its command, but it Las the financial strength to advance funds when necesary to prevent loss to an estate. The fee of the trust company is fixed by law. The trust company is interested in winding up the affairs of the estate as soon as possible; and usually completes an administration in less time than is possibe with an individual executor. The wisdom of choosing a trust company as executor is exemplified in a large but heavily encumbered estate now being probated in the local courts which will yield some 6.10,1)00 in equities to the beirs as handled by a trust company but without the advancement of such large sums of money that no individual would hare done it, the entire estate would 4inve Wen lost in foreclosures. Many additional reasons occur to the thoughtful business man why a trust company will serve him best as an 5 FALL 4 MEETING OF THE NEW Lagoon Jockey Club Under Auspices of William P. DILAPIDATED BUSINESS BUILDINGS There are few cities in the United States the size of Ogden where busi- ness property and rentals are so high. Notwithstanding this fact it would be hard to find a city of like size and im portance where so much business property presents such a dilapidated ap- pea ranee. A great majority of the business! houses along both sides of Washington avenue are in need of repaira and paint. There is a vast array of dirty front walls, dirty, upstairs windows and a general run down appearance. These buildings, all of them commanding a high rental, stand along side and between fine, nicely kept buildings, buildings which are a credit to the city. There is surely a lack of civic pride on the part of the owners of this type of property. The old resident has become so accustomed to this condi-ition that he fails to notice the minora- - s hie appearance of these buildings, but the stranger within our gates takes note and forms opinions accordingly. Residential Ogden presents a fine appearance with its neat, well kept homes, trees, lawns and flowers. Why cant the owners of business property become imbued with a like spirit of civic pride? Ogden will soon have a new white way which will be a credit to the city, but when completed the unkept business buildings look like a silk hosed woman in a dirty dress. r-v- '- 796 Miss Helen Thomas improve the property occasion. feature of Music Ogden Conservatory Avenue It is surprising that Ogden City should have trouble in securing a deed to cerluin lands in Weber county, conveyed to said city by an act of the legislature, passed March 12, 1925, md approved by Governor Dern, March 21, 1925. The bill whereby the land was given to the city was introduced by Representative J. Francis Fowles, representative from Weber county, in the sixteenth session of the Utah legislature. The land is fully described in the law, and the first section provides: That the governor be and he is hereby authorized to convey by deed, executed in the manner other deeds are executed, to Ogden City, a municipal corporation, the lands described in the law.
