Show FTTM Ogden Stock Show Ogden Slock Show January 4th to 8th January 4th to 8th AND VOLUME I OGDEN, Proposed Addition To Give Hospital About 200 Rooms OGDEiN IS X-R- ay ward. As the result of eastern trips of observation and study, Wilford W. Rawson, superintendent of the hospital, has found that Ogden's hospital has been built up to a high point of perfection in that it meets tne high standards and requirements of the American college of Surgeons, who have placed the hospital upon their approved list. The new addition will be placed upon the north end of the present structure. The work upon tne new wing will be built during the early part of the year, and will be ready for occupancy in the fall. The main unit of the hospital was built in 1909 by Mrs. Annie T. Dee, widow of the late Thomas D. Dee, and her children, as a monument to the memory of the husband and father, who was one of Ogden's leading and progressive citizens, and instrumental in the building up of Ogdens school system to its high plane. The south wing was completed a few years ago. With the new addition, the hospital will have 190 rooms. Engineers to Fight Unscrupulous Schools Ogden chapter of the American As sociation of Engineers has endorsed the action of the national organization in a campaign against the questionable correspondence schools, which claim to turn out civil and mechanical engineers by one years correspondence course, and other alluring tactics. The local chapter has adopted a resolution toward the unscrupulous correspondence schools. uaAHe,SUir 2420 Washington Ave. LINGERIE -- Gifts- A very dainty way of saying zfflerfy Qhristmas" Silk Gowns $7.75 Envelope Chemise $3.50 Step-In- s $3.50 Kayser Vests $2.50 Kayser Bloomers $3.75 Silk Negligees $10.75 Silk Quilted Robes $10.75 Smoking Robes $12.50 Ribbon Novelties upward from 25c Evening Gowns upward from $16.75 NUMBER (Kil)K'J PACKS A PARKING V- Ogdon' eighth annual livestock show, which will he held in the now! $100,000 coliseum January 4 to S, promises to be bigger and greater than all previous events. The businessmen of Ogden have Unilod, and huve given assurance that they will strive to help make the event a permanent institution for Ogden, as are other civic enterprises which are a part of this city. One of the big features of the show this year will be the increased number of states that will be represented with livestock exhibits. This was the pleasing announcement of Charles II. Barton, president of the show. President Barton, who has held that position since the inception of the stock show, and the man who ha been primarily responsible for it success and continuation from year to year, says that during the five days of the show he expects at least 40,000 people will visit it and ace the show. The large number of entries from throughout the west have been attracted by the premium list which includes $12,000 by the show, in addition to about of that amount in special prizes. Among some of the exhibits that will be seen at the show will be the famous Hartland Stock Farm herd of herefords from Versailles, Kenturcy, and the I.ea Mead Stock Farm herd of herefords from Nashville, Tenn. Other exhibits rill be from Missouri, Nebraska, luwa, and all of the other western states. In the show will be seen prizewinners from three . great shows of the country. They are the International at Chicago, the American Royal at Kansas City and the Pacific International at Portland, Oreone-ha- lf gon. A feature of the Ogden show which is bringing back again this year all of last year's exhibitors, in addition to many more, is the new steel, concrete and brick coliseum, which stockmen declare is the greatest building for the exhibition of livestock that they have seen in the country. It is stated that there are many buildings in other cities that are used for livestock shows that are much larger than the Ogden structure, but none that affords --- better exhibition purposes. In addition to the livestock show in the stockyards and coliseum will be the seed and poultry shows, both of which were features of the show last year. The livestock show manage' ment has offered $350 in awards to the seedsmen. The seed show will be under the direction of A. L. Christiansen, Weber county agricultural agent, lie will have the assistance of I)r. George Stewart, agronomist of the Utah Agricultural college, and E. E. Smith, Bountiful. The Weber County Poultry and Pet Stock show will be held on the newly constructed north balcony of the coliseum. It is expected that there will be approximately 500 entries in this show, which is being developed as a companion event for the state poultry show which is to be held in Salt Lake the week following the Ogden show. During the week of the big livestock, poultry and seed shows in Ogden, special entertainment features have been arranged for the visitors. These events will incldde the following: Beginning Tuesday evening, January 4, stockmens boxing contest; Wednesday evening, stockmens ball; Thursday evening, stockmens wrestling match; Friday evening, stock-men- 's banquet. The banquet and ball will be complimentary to the exhibitors and herdsmen. The boxing contest and wrestling match will have and exciting cards will be given. In addition to the entertainment features arranged by the committees of the stock show, many special programs are being arranged for the visitors at the theatres and dance halls. One of the interesting features of the stock show is the milkmaid milking contest, which is open to any woman or girl over 15 years of age. The contestant must furnish her own cow, and all cows must be milked out at 7:00 a. m. the morning of the contest The first prize is a silver vase, and the other two prizes are $5 and $2.50. This contest has always been one of the features of the show and has attracted a record audience. The herdsmen in charge of the exhibits will also be awarded prizea for the condition of their herds during the period of the show. Special prizes are offered in the livestock judging contest to the college and high school students, boys' and girls' teams and individual contests. The auction sales at the stock show will be held on the afternoons of the last three days of the show. The officers of the Ogden Livestock show are: Charles II. Barton, president; James H. DcVine, P. Iiealy, Frank J. Stevens, A. P. Bigelow and M. S. Eccles, P. A. Dix, treasurer; L. F. Whitlock, general manager, and Jesse S. Richards, secretary. The board of directors consists of 62 of the prominent business men and stockmen in the rocky mountain states. , - top-notche- rs 'Viilor Users Sign PROM f!r Reclamation Work ; , -- v 'iin mg: Other Cities Stmhing the I mldii-of tin Echo and the WcUr-lVovThe signature of So si'iioiis is ilv niHum.'l'ili' parkA.
