Five Days After “D” Day The invasion rolls on. Millions of stout-hearted boys are in the teeth of the fiercest test the Gods of War have ever designed for the torment of mankind throughout all the ages. For them there is no rest or escape from the grim business of fighting and dying. Surging again and again through the minds of loyal Americans who are distant from the scene of the deadly ordeal is the question, “What can | do to help?” On the fifth day after ‘’D’’ Day at least two reliable answers have materialized. The first is to pledge a redoubling of efforts all along the homefront on jobs which support the fighting men. Secondly, and vitally important, to pledge extra war bonds that these American boys may have the maximum help possible in the super-human struggle which they are waging. The purchase of extra war bonds in the Navy Bond Drive July 1 to 8 won’t match their sacrifice, but it will give them a helping hand in what at best is a hard job. Be They Fight and Die We Work and Buy out. Vacations are progressing in earnest now, LaVon and Afton having already left on theirs are now deep in Idaho and southern Utah, respectively.
