Show THE Legion Auxiliary Carol CHRONICLE 7 Ti- - Thursday, October I, 1970 Dixon, president of the Payson American Legion Auxiliary and Gladys Larson, attended the monthly meeting of the Womens Legislative Council in Provo Thursday mornii. Hosts were from Springville this month. Announcement was made that meetiis will be changed from the first to the second Thursday of each month. Speakers of the day were Senator Frank Moss and Congressman Laurence Burton. Senator Moss first explained the work- -, ings of a political campaign, then went on to discuss crime, drug abuse and campus disorders. He also touched on consumer protection, air pollution and need for improvement of recreation areas. Congressman Burton chose subjects including Issues we face as citizens, campus unrestand disorder, private campaigns, arson and bombing. He said he believes that children need rules and regulations made by parents and those in authority to guide them in the best The Gateway Amendment was explained He by Robert Bullock, attorney-at-lasaid the amendment will be on ballots this fall for consideration of Utahns. w. PAYSON Cultus club Colors in the autumn leaves in the mountains surrounding Maple Dell Boy Scout Camp in Payson Canyon and the sunshine of the pleasant early afternoon added to the pleasure of members of the Coitus Club who gathered there Wednesday for their opening social. Ltmcheon tables were arranged before an open fire in the Clyde Lodge, with late summer flowers used as decoration. Mrs. Don J. McCoy, retiring president, expressed appreciation for the cooperation she received during her tenure of office and later introduced Mrs. Reed Money as president of the new year. Other retiring and newly elected officers were also recognized. A gift was presented to Mrs. McCoy. Mrs. Stanley Wilson was chairman of amendment would make it possible1 to change the constitution by voting on items in multiple form, as opposed to the present way of voting on each proposition singly with a yes-n- o vote. Question and answer periods followed each talk. The A Representative District 42, was guest speaker. New members are Mrs. Reid Persson and Mrs. Ivan Shepherd. Mrs. Reta Broadbent was a guest of her sister, Mrs. Nadine Brown and Mrs. Violet Harper was a guest of her sister-in-laMrs. John Daniels. Mrs. Wilson was assisted in arrangements by the social committee which include Mrs. Sterling Ballard, Mrs. Nadine Brown and Mrs. John Daniels. She was born Sept. 29, 1882inParowan, a daughter of James and Rachel Hadden Applegate. She was married to Arthur Wiley on July 5, 1905 in Junction and he died May 3, 1963.
