Gunnison needed a mill le moved from Ephraim and tarted grinding grain Five later the Hermansens are till selling grain Years ago virtually every A V Press Association General Excellence winner 1999 - 2001 - 2002 - 2033 r MILL 1914 town in America had a mill Some mills were built near streams and others were powered by steam The Hermansens mill opened a People depended on it Every nearby home needed bread and bread needed flour Strictly a flourmill in the beginning it evolved into a feed and flour mill as the county needs changed Hermansen's Mill was the first to make turkey feed for the many poultry farmers in Central and South ern Utah Dr Morris a poultry professor at Brigham Young University helped the Hermansens develop such a feed mill which during the early 1940s was the only mill to produce feed for all poultry farms from Lchi to St George During World War II the mill was grinding out flour and feed around the clock to keep up with the wartime Hour demands of the US
