Show T' USPS Millard County iFlowell Features By Swimming Pool Millard stomps South Sevier New Head Football Coach Dennis Alldredge got a pleasing first game performance from an inexperienced Millard High team as they rolled over South Sevier Friday afternoon Most pleasing for the Millard Eagle fans where the flexing of a strong running game which saw tailback Cory Edwards lead the offense to a total of 350 yards gained mostly on the ground Millard got off to a quick start in a game played under very windy conditions with Edwards running in two first half touchdowns giving the Eagles a lead going into the locker room Second half scoring lead by Quarterback Greg Stewart who called all his own plays included a 30 yard pass to Nathan Giles and a 25 yard run by Edwards both resulting in TDs in the 3rd Quarter Then in the 4th Quarter the Eagle’s Tim Huntsman picked up a fumble and ran 60 yards for a touchdown David Green caught a pass from Cory Gillins for yet another touchdown to cap the scoring Kicker Dam Watson accounted for four points with 4 out of 5 point after touchdown attempts But as grand as the offensive show was the defense was certainly not outclassed The defense held South Sevier to only three first downs in the entire game and kept total offense to under 100 yards Line duties were sparked by Center Shawn Rasmussen who with Edwards led defensive efforts with nine tackles each Coach Alldredge said he was pleased with the confidence of the defense and that the game would be a good psychological boost for the team which is preparing to face Juab High at Nephi consistently connected with receivers Layne Finlinson (13 for 134 yards) Jared Smith (3 for 33 yards) and Rick Callister (3 for 52 yards) Though Carbon scored on an opening lead Delta game drive and took an early quickly turned one of their early offensive campaigns into seven points This coincided with first half interceptions by Todd Simmons and Wayne Rowlette and left the Rabbits looking good
