Show I BEN LOMOND BEACON, Jan. 4, 979, Page 4 1 Weber is gifted with a fine pair of guards this season, Rick Scadden and Max Jones They are in equal status with any of the other guardlines and when they have the Warriors moving, Weber is unstoppable Such was the case in the second half against Hillcrest in the opening game of the season Brad Hall is asserting himself as one of best big men in the llague He has been in double figures in scoring in nearly every Weber contest Currently he is the leading scorer on the team in Region One play, averaging about 17 points per game Mark Montgomery is ready to explode any time now, were just who waiting A returning will have a lot to do with the success oo the Warriors in the remainder of By Keith Duncan After a convincing victory over the Ben Lomond Scots, Weber High will once again wade into Region One wars And what could be more challenging than to travel to Layton to start things off The Warriors were clicking and were impressive in their win over the Ben Lomond The victory left Weber with a 6 2 overall tally and still in Region One in Region One The Lancers are with wins over Bonnevill and Roy They currently have allowed the least number of points in the league, 89 The Lancers have not been a high scoring team so far in Region One, but Coach Doug Moon feels his team will pick up the scoring slack as the season 1 0 t- progresses the Region One schedule year The heart of the team is Bruce Thorpe That was the way he was described by Coach Dick Conolly When Bruce ticks the entire plays well Both Weber and Layton are blessed with some talented performers and both have some big players who are coming back to haunt Region One this fyWf The key to Fridays clash, at least m the opinion of most, will the effectiveness of te guardlines of both teams In fact it will probably be the key to the team who wins the Region One title this season There are a number of talented big men this season and the expertise of guards to score and get th ball to them is going ,, 1 X After playing Layton, Weber will host Roy for the first time this season Warrior-Royal clashes are always classics and this season will prove no different The Royals are beginning to pick up momentum now, Mark Sindle In being a big key for the move-u- p Idaho he tallied 67 points in three games that the Royals participated in Roy took a third place m the holiday tourney to the key to a championship Clearfield is enjoying great success so far this season because of the guards being able to get the ball into Roger Vincent and Russ Florence Mark NIGHT, Weber will take on these few Layton Lancers and several others Currently the Lancers are undefeated in Region One FRIDAY Its certainly going to be a hey day of Weber Warrior basketball Layton on Friday and Roy next Tuesday Reid and Larry Read have been capable scorers themselves How Do They Stand ?
