By Gary Toyn Boy, are our governmental people back in Washington leader sticking up for us! Our most loyal Executive branch has sent our most loyal Secretary of State over to one of our most trusted and devoted countries and is strategically talking our defense away. They deserve a pat on the back. We really like our Soviet friends. We say something nice about the and they turn around and say something nice back to us. We really believe in being loyal to our friends too. In being loayl we must overlook the Soviet, Treaty Track Record. The Soviets have made 52 treaties with foreign countries and broken 50 of them at the beginning of 1978. We can overlook this of course! This has no bearing on the current SALT talks, or does it? It means nothing to us that our loyal and trusted friends cant keep a promise. We will just have to trust them this time. What are friends for if lets you cant trust each other. And while were overlooking overlook the Soviet philosophy, which is, Whats mine is Well talk about. mine whats yours Could that be one reason why we want to resume SALT again, because were so generous? North Ogden City has donated land for this purpose near the city hall. The site has been approved the the Weber County Library Board which has included a North Ogden Branch in its master plan. Anyone who would like to help get the new library here is invited to call Mr. Longhurst at the school School Advisory Council. The council meets monthly to plan programs for the Community School and discuss other problems in the community. They then try to resolve these problems by working with other agencies where appropriate. Some of the recent concerns are programs to serve the elderly, parent effectiveness training and the library. The library is seen as a major critical issue at this time, due to the fact that some help with funding may soon become available. In about 18 months, the main library in Ogden should be paid off, freeing the library board to issue more bonds for the construction of another branch, without raising taxes. However, this money would not be enough . to cover both the costs of building and maintaining the facility. Local input will be necessary, due to the spiraling costs of construction. Now is the time to begin planning and working for the new branch library, said Mr. Longhurst. We believe a local funding effort will be necessary to help furnish the new branch. The communities in this end of the county should begin now to prepare for this great commumtv View The North Community School Advisory Council is made up of representatives from the cities, PTA units and other citizens. Reports on the exact production costs vary, but it is known that the movie cost over $50 million to produce. SUPERMAN is certainly one of the best special effect movies ever made. In one sense, it is the most spectacular special effect movie ever because unlike STAR SUPERMANS WARS, special effects are not diffused tfver a grand scale. All effects are centered on one character who can fly. The majority of viewers will actually leave the movie believing a man could fly. The Wilshire Theatre reports that most showings of SUPERMAN are crowded and that box receits are currently running slightly ahead of what CLOSE ENCOUNTERS brought in one year ago. As yet there have been no negative reports on the film from viewers according to the Wilshire manager. The movie is a long show, lasting two hours and 15 minutes.
