This is part of an extracurricular program at North Ogden Elementary School, with Mrs. Winifred Hall as Chairman of the Winter homes and automobiles. North Ogden Police Chief Earl J. Carroll issued in the warning in an effott to stifle the unusually high increase in thefts experienced this time of year. Chief Carroll said the police have more thefts and burglaries reported in December than in the previous three months combined. This is due to the fact that people have more merchandise and more merchandise that is valuable in their homes during the holiday season than any other time of the year. Burglars often find their work not only more profitable but easier too, especially if the doors are left unlocked. Presents left in full sight, in an automobile can also be taken easily, Chief Carroll said. He said presents ' Snowmobiling NORTH OGDEN is prohibited in North Ogden City, including the city parks, Mayor Eldon McColley reminded residents of the city, during the city council meeting of Nov. 23. Chief Carroll urged citizens to call the police if they see a suspicious person or vehicle in the neighborhood. He also said citizens should leave a light on in the house whenever they leave it. New ordinance requires garbage pickup payment PLEASANT VIEW The city council has asked the city attorney to draw up an ordinance requiring all residents of the city to pay for garbage pickup whether they use it or not. The action came because some residents of the city have refused to pay for garbage pickup since the city has started charging a garbage collection fee of $2 per month. This fee, together with a tax increase sparked the protest of some 25 residents. The city councils first action in the matter was to write letters to those residents refusing to pay for the garbage collection. Through the letters the council informed ci.tjens. of the steps they must take to get rid of their own garbage and also of the governing the removal garbage. Because of the strict regulations, it is rather difficult for a private citizen to take care of his private refuge. City officials have expressed several concerns in the matter, including the fact that some residents may dump their garbage anywhere rather than disposing of it properiy. Another concern expressed is that some of the residents who are not paying the fee may be faking their garbage to the neighregulations of bors to be picked up. The council said they felt this was not fair to the majority of residents in Pleasant View who are paying their collection fee. The cost for picking up the garbage in Pleasant View is more than City will correct bad intersection city Prk property should be locked in the trunk wnen left in the car for safer keeping. He said the extra time involved in locking both houses and autos can save a lot of problems at a later date. VIEW Pleasant View residents may soon be relieved of a traffic hazard which has, in the past been called one of the worst problems in the state, as work begins to correct the intersection. The intersection of Elberta Drive and Pleasant View Drive at about 650 W. has been a hazard for a number of years and the cause of several accidents. The two roads PLEASANT intersect at odd angles which severely cuts down on visibility and allows traffic to cut across in front of vehicles. The problem has only become worse since Weber High opened, as traffic is doubled during the school year. Work has started on blocking the traffic from entering Elberta Drive from the west. per month pei residence and the city has been paying the remainder $4 of the billing , Burglaries reported recently Police reports NORTH OGDEN show many burglaries and thefts as well as several cases of destruction of property during the past two weeks.
