The council told him that they did support the service and would like to see it maintained in the area. They offered any support they could give verbally, although they could not help financially. Mr. Eie said it was easier to get lunds on ai county or federal level for such services anyway. He pointed out that the north part of the county is severly neglected in emergency health care service. He said if the service remained, they would eventually like to see a unit set up in the northern part of the county' to serve North Ogden, Pleasant View, Plain City and Harris ville. If and when this occurs, the people of this area would be much better protected than they are now. However, even having the limited services of the paramedics team is better than having none atall. The local ambulance services do not have men trained in emergency aid measures. The most they can offer is a transportation service and st aid that even you or I could offer. On the other hand, the paramedics are trained in all areas of emergency aid. They can perform lifesaving measures under a doctors supervision while on the way to the hospital, thus saving many more lives or at least cutting down in some of the emergency measures needed at the hospital. Both of the major hospitals in Weber County support the services of the paramedics. The paramedics should now be given the support of the residents of the county and the commissioners. Whether subsidized as a county program or whether it becomes a private operation, it needs to remain in the area. Residents in the county should look at the issue as it stands now and as a county operation. They should then let the county commissioners know how they feel about the funding of the program, whether it be funded by the county or federally funded, but either way, residents should support the paramedics. fir- Thursday, July 8, 1976 stakes enter golf tournament at Patio Springs and the prizes.
