Williams and five other speakers addressed DSU students and faculty members Sept. 21 in the Cox Auditorium for the State of the University Address on the successes and future goals of DSU. "In higher education, if we don't innovate, we are definitely going to perish," Williams said. Williams announced six goals for the next five years at DSU which include promoting student success, broadening and enhancing academic programs, investing in faculty and staff, enhancing support of inclusion and equity, engaging with the southern Utah region, and establishing a strong brand and an- identity. "DSU is the newest and fastest growing university in the state of Utah," said David Clark, chair of the board of trustees. The main component of Williams address was the updated plan on k, , . President Williams discussed a new slogan for DSU: Accelerate, Communicate, Differentiate and Celebrate. Dixie campus to accommodate 15,000 students. This plan has been in the making for a year, and is already in action with the new student housing, Campus View Suites, recently built. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place for the new Campus View Suites Oct. 19. A total of three additional Campus View Suites will be added along with other student housing around campus. To accommodate more students, The Dixie State University board of trustees unanimously green-l- it the Human Performance Building and additional funds for Legend Solar Stadium Friday. The board, of trustees met in the Cottam Room of the Gardner Student Center to discuss new changes coin- ing to DSU, including the athletic department's application to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. President Biff Williams, Student Body President Sarah Ramaker, and other DSU representatives also presented - their successes and goals to the board to kick off the meeting. DSU's campus plan provides three new parking garages located on campus. Locations of the garages will be at the current Testing Center, next to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints Institute and on the west side of building campus by the Cox Auditorium. Athletic Director Jason Boothe announced the DSU athletic department's plan to apply for full membership in the RMAC for the 2018-1- 9 seasons at the meeting. The football team made the jump to the RMAC from the Pacific West Conference in Williams continued the addition of campus with a welcoming center, four plus academic facilities, July, but Boothe said this new change will affect all DSU sports.
