The Rebels (13-8- ) lost their first game of the weekend to Treasure Valley. The Chukars managed to silence Dixie's potent bats in their 2 decision. The student, according to the press release, told police that she believed the individuals were high school age males. The student said, according to the press release, that pedestnan and vehicle traffic was high at the time, and for that reason, she believed that incident was not serious. The student stated m the press release that she did not believe that the incident was serious. I never intended to call police, she allegedly told campus security chief Don Reid, the incident was blown out of proportion by The Spectrums front page story. The Spectrum reported that incident was being investigated as a rape, and in the article, The Spectrum said the incident was initially reported as a simple assault. The campus police did investigate the incident as a rape because of the tom clothing, and they did, as The Spectrum reported, use a rape kit to determine if a rape had taken place. We take these kinds of incidents very seriously, and for that reason, we have sent all evidence for the Salt Lake cnme lab for analysis, said Reid. In the press release, Dixie State College President Robert Huddleston apologized to the victim for what she had to go through. We try very hard to maintain a safe and Even secure campus, said Huddleston. though we have never heard of someone being detained our campus like this before, we want our students to know that we have increased our patrolling efforts in parking lots around campus. We will always strive to let students know if we ever hear of any criminal activities and issue appropriate safety warnings. We want these incidents out in the open and known to our campus. i 4 i 14 |
