And thats sad because it isnt true. Statistical studies of our students who r have transferred to institutions show that theyve done very well. 1 would challenge any institution in the state to match the academic credentials of Dixie State on a percentage basis. We have a tremendous number of successful professionals who started at Dixie. You can look at CEOs, college presidents, corporate presidents. ... Every one of them attributes their great academic start to Dixie College The communitys support for Dixie r school was crucial to becoming a the passage of the bill that made it all possible. And the community is about to be rewarded. According to St. George City Mayor Daniel McArthur, the city will benefit economically from Dixie's new position. The companies that want to relocate here are always asking about the status of the college," said McArthur. When you say you have a community college, that means one thing. When you offer four-yedegrees that offers them a second level. They are not only willing to maybe donate more money, but they see their employees can grow and get their degree without having to travel somewhere else. Money is not the only way St. George will benefit either. The college is actually growing to fit our needs as a community, said McArthur. More of our students are able to stay at home, and theyre not putting their lives in danger traveling somewhere else. Dixie College has expanded its horizons, and its faculty members hope to continue to build upon the academic successes that they have had. Fowler was reminded of that at meeting last week when he met 15 new faculty members. They stand on the shoulders of giants, said Fowler, with the reference of those who have preceded them. He and others hope that Dixie continues to build upon their academic successes. They hope that they will add a new chapter in the book on Dixies academic tradition. s 761 south four-yea- 5 ft) D 5 S ft bluff st. george, utah cm S 84770 S fO1 (435) 10:00 a. m. 8:00 '3 628-421- 3 -- p.m. Roxy Sportswear four-yea- $10.00 off $50.00 or more Juniors Lucky Denim Jeans four-yea- 131 with coupon Juniors Nautica $10.00 off $50.00 or more WOW WEEK Monday- - New Student Orientation The band COLORS 7-1- 8:30-- 1 the Fountain 0 Free Otter Pops 12 Library movie Night: The Sixth Sense 9 Northside of FA Friday- Extravaganza Encampment Mall Saturday- First Chance Dcince Gardner Ballroom Wednesday-- - 11-1- - 2 9-1- 2 - |
