In fact, Chappell is the only one this year out of Utah's 10 collegiate teams. The SWAC is known as one of the toughest regions in the NJCAA and is heavily recruited by Division I coaches one of the reasons Chappell chose to play ball at Dixie. "Dixie has a great reputation in basketball. I knew that they had a lot of guys go Division I, so I knew I'd get a lot of exposure. If I wanted to play ball after Jr. College, this would give me the best chance." Chappell is right in that assessment. This year Dixie has 10 former players on Division I teams seven of them starting. That's more than any other two-yecollege in the state. Chappell hopes to take that same road. But first his plans are to go on a mission and then return to Dixie for his sophomore season. Chappell has proven he can come through under pressure. "I told Nate when I recruited him, that he had a great opportunity to step in and play because there would be a whole new team after all our guys signed Division I," Rose said. "There will be that same opportunity for someone else when Nate leaves on his mission and our sophomores graduate. That will leave spots for other kids in Utah to do the same thing as Nate did ... step up and produce when they're given the chance." Women lose two weekend road games ar for his first starting role. Chappell now averages 13 points per game-thi- rd on the team, and leads in goals connecting on 40 percent. Those figures are good enough to put him in the Scenic West Athletic Conference top ten in that category. He is also in the top ten in steals. "I put Nate in and haven't been able to take him out," Rose said. "He feels confident there and has produced focus."
