To make the ceremony more prestigious and dignified, the categories have been narrowed down to twelve individual groups. The different departments on campus will have their own awards to celebrate the achievements of people in the department. The Rebel Awards program is for recognized achievement, instead of awarding all departmental efforts. The people nominated, and the different categories are as campus-wid- e follows: Burgon, Nykele Leavitt, Brent Stephenson, Darin Williams. DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD: Suzanne Arroues, John Bowler, Sherree Gammon, Debbie Gates, Susan Horman, Malea Mathis. ACHIEVEMENT OF THE YEAR: Terry Swyers. The nomination and selec- tion of the Rebel Award finalists was a particular and process. Nomination un-bi- forms were distributed to faculty and staff, and were available to students. Although the response was not as well as could be expected, over 70 students were nominated. The next step involved a committee of 2 students, 2 administration members, and 8 division representatives who divided the nominees into 12 different selected categories. Break-of- f committees were then formed with original committee members as chairmen. These new committees then reviewed each nominee and selected the winners. The winners will be announced at the Rebel Awards Program, Friday April 12, in the Fine Arts Center auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Master of Ceremonies will be Bill Mar-crof- t, Sports Director of the d Salt Lake KUTV City-base- Television department. news Auditions tor tne Dixie Col- lege Theatre production of The Emperors New Clothes were recently held. College par- ticipants are: Zar being played by Darren Wheaton, Zan by J.P. Berrett, Han by Todd Evans, Tsein by Shannon Peterson, Mong by Franke Holt, old man by Christopher Little, Ling by Patty Spencer, Fah by Susan Dalton, Emperor by Kevin Davis, Empress by Tonya Gaygon, general by John ODriscoll, and citizens by Ed Crockett and Angi Brown. The student cast will be supplemented with children from the community. The play is directed by Mace Jacobson. Mrs. Jacobson D.A.S. Tickets will be available beginning April 23 at the Dixie College Fine Arts Center Box Office. This is the final production of the season for season ticket holders. SPIRIT AWARD: studied theatre in jr. high, high school, and graduated as a theatre major from Dixie Col- Since last fall the Dixie College radio station has been planning the relocation of the radio station. Well that time has come, the station will be in its new room as of Friday, April 19th. The new control room is an updated facility which v ill now contain the entire Dixie record library within its walls. The move was made possible through the supervi- son, Marv Wilson. Stockton 1 Forensics place 18th The 14 member Dixie College Forensic Squad returned home last week, after 10 days at the National Forensic Competition in Stockton California, hosted by Los Rios Community College. Six Rebel students earned trophies seven events on the way to compiling four and one-ha- lf points and an 18th place finish out of 960 American Junior or Community Colleges. Bronze awards were brought home by Muriel OFlynn, impromptu; Steve Shamo, speech to entertain; Suzane Bowers, communicaton analysis; Matt Wonacott, and Mike Maio, impromptu speaking. The one Silver award went to Steve Shamo in prose interpretation. Scott Searle place first with his speech to entertain, bringing home the only first place gold award. S.t u d e n t loans A Guaranteed Student Loan Workshop for all current GSLs recipients has been scheduled for April 12 at 1:00 p.m. in the LA Building room 110. Pat Carricaburu of First Security Bank, Jim Ginnis of Zions First National Bank, and Alice Griffiths of the Utah Loan Servicing Corporation are coming from Salt Lajce to conduct this workshop.
