Show September 22, 1961 THE DIXIE SUN Dean Yoodbury DeAnna Hawkins Greets Students Is To you former students, I extend a hearty welcome back to Dixie It is a wonderful sight to see the activity on the campus again with a new school year beginning. I also note with interest that our students from the outside seem to be of a little higher caliber this year than usual and we appreciate young folks of high standards. In behalf of the citizens of St. George, may I welcome all of you to our city and may your school year be a pleasant one. Mayor William A. Barlocker The "Rainmaker" and hope your next eight months will be even more profitable than the previous school year. Most of you have reflected, no doubt, upon your previous curricular and extracurricular activities, and I judge that many of you have resolved in one or more ways to improve your immediate future year. I compliment you for such a stand. One of my greatest thrills in teaching is to see our former students return after a summer of relaxation with to give more to their school and themselves. This is a mark of maturity. To our many new students: I greet you with a great deal of pleasure and antcipation. The nt-body will desire and encourage your enthusiastic support. May you have it in your hearts and minds to do so. You will have many problems confronting you. May I encourage you to approach each in its turn with determination and faith in its solution. Only by doing so will you truly mature. Remember this: My services and that of every other faculty member is available to you. Dont hesitate to seek us out whether you are plagued by personal, emotional, academic, or problems. Recently I had the distinct pleasure of hearing Mr. Louis Fischer of the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, University, discuss world conditions in light of the Russian threat. He very ably pointed out that we not only must give of ourselves and our substance to underdeveloped countries, but we must take something from them in order that they may maintain their dignity. Whatever we take need not necessarily be material, but it should be something of their ideals, customs, and especially their What our neighbors friendship. really want is partnership. This is the way it should be at Dixie. Plan to give more than you take, and in doing so you will find that you are receiving much more than you give. May you have a happy and productive year. stude- extra-curricul- Rehearsals Begin The Rainmaker, a romantic comedy directed by Marion J.
