The scores of each of these games January 2 8 and 2!j 8 5 were and for Dixie. If it had not been for a foul called on the Badgers during the final seconds of the game, the victory might have slipped from 62-4- 67-6- Dixie. Starring in both games was Solomon. He seems to be half of Dixies defense. After Solomon left the game Saturday the Dixie five lost the fight that had been theirs in the first half of the game. The previous weekend play with C.S.U. ended in a split for the teams. The play at Dixie was much closer than was the play at Cedar. This new book is not on the shelves; instead, it is on a stand on one of the library tables where you can browse through it on your spare time, and then check it out if you wish. One of the most interesting and valuable books on the life and times of Lincoln in recent years, LINCOLN IN CARICATURE makes a unique contribution both to history and to the graphic arts. From our present perspective in time, we" see this humorous, melancholy, wise man as a towering figure in American history. His position is permanent beyond challenge. It is difficult therefore, and instructive, to realize how savagely he was attacked in his own time. Assembled over a period of forty years, this wonderful collection of the caricatures and cartoons cf the eventful 1860's provides many fascinating new insights into the era of Lincoln and hts contemporaries. It makes clear Indeed, among other things, that our sixteenth president was perhaps the most hated in this nation's recorded history. But we learn, too, how much of the press took up his cause and why historians have attributed historic changes to the cartoonist's art. The noted Lincoln authority. The Redmen of Cedar were defeated on their own floor by the Dixie Flyers on January 15. Although Cedar led the Dixie five up to the final seconds, Dixie, with renewed vigor, made a gain of one point to win the battle, Honors for the final point went to Gary Wayne Graff, who made the basket in the last seven seconds. Although the Flyers won the game, it was apparent that neither Dixie nor Cedar High played their best. Tuesday, February 16, they will clash again on the Dixie hardwood. Each team should be at the peak of perfection, and the is a highly outcome awaited event. parts of the United States, then the time a young man's fancies start turning to thoughts of love but here at Dixie the young man begins to think of love at the time of Saint Valentine's Day. DATING My pet peeve is dating and the problems thereof. It seems, first off that this little institution called dating can become so as to run in competition with some of the large financial disasters we know of today! Comparatively speaking of course. The fact is this: we fellows just dont have a million dollars to spend on a date; maybe two dates but not just one. Fellows what do you do upon taking your gal to a drive in after a movie or dance? Do you just sit there with your fingers, toes, legs, and even your eyes crossed and then pray' that she doesnt order, enough to necessitate your washing dishes; or are you like a friend of mine who upon being asked for the order by the car hop or waitress replied, "I believe Ill just have a root beer, what will you just have? Of course, if she does as one naive little gal who in reply ordered, "just a steak, youve had it. Incidentally, my friend should be through washing dishes next weekend. But there are several different explanations for the customs of sending cards of greeting and love tokens on Saint Valentine's Day. All of them are probably inaccurate. It was once the custom to draw lots to decide which young men and women should be each other's valentine for the coming year. The couples would then exchange gifts, and sometimes even Income engaged to he married. Sentimental valentines and gifts of flowers and candy are still commonly given by men to women in celebration of the day here in the United States.
