Show 24 The Dixie Owl, St. George, Utah Dixie Normal College is known for anything, and it is, it is known for debating. Let us continue this work and continue to have Dixie honored throughout the state. To do this the Debating department is at your service. To effectuate their ideal, the White and Blue Debating Society is busy selecting and cultivating our talented. Only last week they had a most interesting debate. The Question: Resolved, That the United States should adopt the League of Nations as it now stands without reservations, was beautifully picked to pieces. Layfette Terry, Stephen Wells and Joseph Ray represented the affirmative. The negative was upheld by Larin Andrews, Howard Miller and Schuyler Moody. The debate was most interesting and was greatly appreciated by the club members. The decision was unanimous in favor of the negative. More such debates will be held, along with oratorical and story telling contests now being arranged for. Watch the department. It has something to offer you. H. E. C. REPORT Have you ever watched a beautiful rose during the process of blooming? How slowly it unfolds, petal by petal, until at last it stands forth a marvel and a joy to humanity. Thus it is with the Home Economics Club. We were only a bud at first, but with Laura Gardner and Olive Hendricks to coax us on, as does the sunlight the rose bud, we are now in full bloom. But unlike the rose, cold weather can not kill us it only adds a spice to the spirit of fun that is throbbing in no unsubdued manner throughout the club. Our aim is to improve our members mentally and socially. A splendid program and lecture is delivered at each meeting. But why say more? If you possess the usual amount of curiosity that most girls possess, you cant resist the temptation of coming to see, and once there, always there. M. H |
