Show 10 THE DIXIE OWL Debating The last week has been occu- pied in selecting- the debaters who are to represent us this season in the inter-schodebates. - ol Four debaters (two teams) and two alternates were to be chosen. Monday, Keb. 4th, the first tryout was held in which eight students participated. The subject of the try-ospeeches was the state question, Resolved that the State of Utah should adopt a graduated income tax for the purpose of raising revenue. The four faculty members who acted as judges, selected three of the debaters but were unable to agree upon the fourth, necessary to make the two teams. Another try-owas held Thursday. The debaters chosen in the first tryout were, Marion Gates, .Arthur Crawford and Keith Seegmiller. In the second tryout, Clarence Cottam was chosen as the remaining regular debater and Leila Adair and George Miller as alternates. Just how the debaters will be lined up has not been definitely decided. Last year Dixie made an enviable record in debating. This ear we have just as bright a prospect. Why can we not accomplish as much or even surpass our forfner record? With the support of the students we think we can. ut ut , Arthur Crawford. Dixie Ag. Club We Aggies certainly do love the II. E. C. girls for the party they gave us. Nothing pleases a boy more than a party, unless it is two of them. At7:30 we all gathered in the basement of the college building and the fun began. Many games were played, but the best, one was the proposing game, in which Schuyler Moody took first place. Can anyone guess why? elan. 30th the boys surprised the girls and gave them a treat on candy and almonds. Then we had some more fun. In the last, month we have had many good lectures, and we feel that more ought to be out and get the benefit of them. Just you wait, and see how we are repiesented in the year book and you will see what kind of a bunch we are. Look out for the Aggie Hop. Harold Snow. H. E. C. Yes we had the party. It was a total success. Entertaining-gamewere played, a fine program was given and refreshments were served. We all had a real enjoyable time. Wed. Jan. 30 we were working peacefully on our work when we heard strains of sweet' music flouting up from the lower hall. Then the tramp of feet and those familiar words, Mustnt say the naughty word, seemed to be The door was coming nearer. in trooped and suddenly opened the Aggies with large bags of peanuts and there we were sewing pajamas! They were soon layed out of sight however and we economized with the Aggies. s Leila adair. Does any one think we could get along without Bro. Nicholes, his smile and his jokes? We all know we couldnt. A friendly grin will take you lots farther than a frown if you get the grin just right. I stole a kiss the other night, My conscience hurts alack! I guess Ill have to go tonight and give the darned thing back. Marion Earl.
