Show j: i 2C The Salt Lake Tribune, Leads Fail to Indicate Location Of Apparent Kidnap Victim tween 8 35 p m. and 9 30 p m , said a report at the Salt Lake County Sher- iffs Suspect Mentally Fit To Face Rape Counts man charged with four felony counts of aggravated sexual assault stemming from the rape of a Kearns woman Dec. 25 was found mentally competent to answer the charges A Monday. Matt B. Killough, 28, appeared in 3rd District Court before Judge Philip R. Fishier for the competency h hearing. The judge ordered Mr. returned to the Salt Lake Coun- ty Jail, and criminal proceedings against him in 5th Circuit Court to continue. He is accused of sexually assaulting a Kearns woman, 46, on Dec. 25 in her house after posing as a customer interested in a vehicle she had for sale. Office. Sheriffs Office detectives have found leads in the case but no information to indicate where the woman might be, Detective Capt. Robert Jack said. Deputies responded to the scene after a caller telephoned to say the service station was unattended They found the clerks booth empty and locked and about $65 missing from the cash register, the report said. Coins, credit slips and customers checks were stacked neatly by the cash register. More than $1,000 in cash had been deposited in a night drop where it couldnt be retrieved, and another $250 in cash for opening the business Monday had been placed in a drawer. The womans coat and glasses remained in the clerks booth, and a whole cigarette had burned to ash in an ashtray. The woman called her home Sunday night, telling her husband and a deputy that she had been kidnapped during a robbery, was all right and would be released Sunday night. Then the telephone from where she made the call was disconnected, the report said. Area Births Births reported at Salt Lake atea hospitals Include: Holy Cross Hospital Mr and Mrs. Breck daughter. Special to The Tribune BRIGHAM CITY Employees laid off by Morton Thiokol Friday began processing Monday at the Utah Job Service office and a spokesman said about half of the 193 live in Brigham City. Morton Thiokol laid off the 193 and week another 1,400 put on a working in the Space Shuttle program Friday. The reduced hours took effect Monday. Production on the solid rocket booster motors here used in the Space Shuttle program was cut by NASA following the explosion of the Challenger Jan. 28 with seven astronauts aboard. Morton Thiokols employment office said there are 6,550 working at the operations and 2,000 live in Brigham City. About 60 percent of the employees live in Box Elder County and the re Eldon Swenson, Job Service spokesman, said the majority of the workers processed Monday are classified as utility workers. He said those filing for unemployment benefits could be eligible immediately if they have no further benefits coming from the company. He estimated the age of the workers to be from the early 20s to mid-30Minimum payments for unemployment benefits begin at $10 to $193 a week, he said. Mr. Swenson said Nucor at Plymouth, Box Elder County, and Vulcraft in Brigham City, both steel manufacturers, Tremonton, and Champion Homes and American Greetings, Brigham City, have remained stable with their work force, indicating no vacancies are expected for the winter. Hearing Set for Suspects in Cocaine Bust - Two susRICHFIELD (UPI) will pects appear Wednesday in 6th District Court to plead to charges they possessed nearly 25 pounds of partially processed cocaine worth $1 million, says Sevier County Attorney Don Brown. In a new development in the case, Brown said Monday the U.S. Immi- gration and Naturalization Service placed detainers on both Elias R. DeAlo, 29, Buena Park, Calif., and Rafael H. Villa, 32, Bayside, N.Y. arrested for speeding Feb. 12 near Salina, 250 miles south of Salt Lake City. A Utah Highway Patrol trooper, who asked the men if he could search their car, discovered the suspected drugs. Federal immigration agents claim DeAlo and Villa were both suspects are illegal aliens, Brown said. DeAlo told officers he was a Colombian national and Villa said he was a native of Cuba. The suspects were ordered to stand trial on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. They were being held in the Sevier County Jail pending payment of $200,000 bond each. The package of confiscated drugs, which weighed 10 kilograms, was sent to Salt Lake City for testing. John T. Nielsen of the State Public Safety Department said the cocaine base could have been processed down to about four or five pounds of very pure cocaine. The drugs would have had a street value in excess of $1 million, Nielsen said. daughter. Mr. ond Mrs. Bryan Heacbtke. 566-948- 1986. BRENNAN, Coralee, Salt Lake City, Feb. 23, 1986.
