Kumpfer from the Social Research Institute. Drug abuse, Dr. Kumpfer said, is a multigenerational problem that cannot be successfully combated unless high-rischildren are given the special attention they need. three-yea- r study of programs conducted by the University of Utah Social Research Institute, showed strengthened help prevent drug abuse in the children of abusers The study, funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, researched three programs available at Salt Lake agencies, including family relationship enhancement, parent training and social skill training for children The participating families were recruited from the Salt Lake area and randomly assigned to one of three prevention programs A Rhodes, a federal probation officer in Utah at the time of McCoy's hijacking, prepared the presentence report on him McCoy and D B.
