Show I I IMPROVE OVE THE TOWN Ephraim is building up faster faser and making more progress generally than any other town in this section of the state but it could make slake much faster faste progress if a united effort was made made by the people pepe It would not be wise to boom oom the town by attempting to lo accomplish improve that are beyond our reach nor would it be wise to plunge the city into debt for improvements that are not necessary but the city fathers and citizens generally can accomplish a great deal without any doubtful means The plank sidewalks that are now laid aid on Main l street have been a great source of comfort to pedestrians pedestrians pedestrians during muddy and dusty weather and have been a first class for the town Th They y yare are completed on the west est side of Main Street for two blocks excepting except excepting ing a short piece which will no doubt be 36 constructed next summer and on the east side ide a great deal of the he walk has bas been laid Outside of the business district good plank walks have been constructed in front of a number numb r of residence It is it only a matter of t time tame me until every property owner will use plank for this purpose because m in the end th they y will find it cheaper than hauling gravel gravet every y year ar arGood Good lawns greatly improve the appearance of a home and by improving im improving proving the home henne improve the town A few hours work and a trifling am amount of m money for bur grass s ed fill ill ill illi i a art a lawn in front of every h home me mein in this tits city Nothing advertises a town more than thau beautiful homes and a well kept lawn goes a long lung way toward making a home look be uti- uti ful tUI These things can be accomplished by jy citizens individually and aHu iii accomplishing ac accomplishing ar- ar them the citizen n nut nut t tonly only benefits himself and add beautifies his own home but he is loin dom a public service e oy aiding in its iu bed beautifying lying Eying the city The city fathers can do this city great reat good also without ut any very great expenditure of public money There are in the mountains east east ast of ot this city from whence our water supply is obtained a great many places suitable for small reservoirs which could be placed in condition to hold back some of the water that I usually runs to wa waste waite le during the early part of the season and make maket it t do its part toward irrigating the I growing crops There are many 1 springs that would largely increase their flow y of water if they were well VeIl cleaned out and fenced up so that stock could not tramp them ou out t. t of f existence Th The f city ty could build these reservoirs and clean out the springs with a small outlay aortas These are but a few Cew of the ways in which the city council and citizens can benefit the town Many others will themselves but for lack of united action they are not oot carried out as as' as fast as maybe may maybe maybe be desirable An o organization of citizens that would have for its ob object the the of the city and and the development o of its resources I |
