Show I COAL IN UTAH i i The production of coal in Utah in 1915 J amounted to 3,108,715 short tons, valued ' at $4,916,916, an increase of 5.679 tons j in quantity and a decrease of $18,538 in 1 in value, a compared with 1914, accord-I accord-I ing to the United States geological survey. sur-vey. The principal gain was in Emery county and there was a small increase in Carbon county. The production of Summit and Uinta counties decreased more than 30,000 tons. The number of employees decreased from 4,112 in 1914 to 3,564 in 1915, and the average num'er of days worked decreased from 210 to 208. The average annual output of coal per employee increased, in-creased, however, from 755 to 872 tons, and the average per day from 3.6 to 4.2 tons, a high average. Machine mining has increased greatly in Utah in recent years, the returns showing 20 per cent in 1913, of the total product mined by that method. 30 per cent in 1914, and 50 per cent in 1915. |
