Show FARMERS DAY IS OBSERVED BY MANY ! Last Thursday was Farmers day in Castledale add though there were not ; as many out to get the benefit from such a day as there should have been for their own good there were enough out to encourage those who were at the head of the movement to go on and work hard again next year. There were thirty-eight in all who made up the excursion party this year and a good number of farms were very thoroughly covered. The morning was spent looking over the farms and crops of Archer Willey, Wm E. King, and James Petersen. In the afternoon, following lunch on the Wwn at James Petersen's place, visits were made to James Wimber's orchards and gardens, the Seely farm across the creek, and the farms of Joe Lund and Bishop Lirsen. George Brandon's j sweet clover seed was also inspected. j In addition to the places actually visited many places were seen on the way that ! were in excellent shape and shows those who do not follow the plow that there are some wonderful crops about to be harvested in this vicinity. Some very good crops are growing on some of the stretches of blue hill ground on wr ich many have given up all hopes of raising anything, but it has taken hard work to bring the soil up to the required condition con-dition to get such results, and the outcome out-come is surely a rewari for such efforts. |
