Show k -j HUNTINGTON Mr. Finley of Mohrland, at the request re-quest of the board of the Electric Light and Telephone company, met with the people Sunday eveniug and gave some very valuable suggestions in regard to the kind of an electric plant that would be suitable to the conditions here. He also gave an idea of what the approximate approxi-mate cost of such a plant would be ont- ! side of home-furnished material. Pres. Mart Jenseu, of the board, stated the j desire of the board to employ Mr. Fin- j ley's services when a plant shall be installed, in-stalled, which was sanctioned by the meeting. Mr. Jensen also stated that efforts were being made to commence work on the ditch this week if possible. The M. I. A. is putting on a play Thursday. H. A. Fowler, who was suddenly taken very ill a few days since, was taken to the City Wednesday where he will be cared for at the hospital. Mrs. D. C. Woodward of Salt Lake and Mrs. N. L. Woodward of Montana are visiting with relatives and friends. Mrs. Bertha Leonard is the happy mother of a baby girl. Tuesday, Maici 30; h, the preliminary hearing of Lauritz Hansen, charged with stealing a heifer, the property of Mr. Gilbert, was held before Justice Brasher. After a prolonged hearing in which the merits of the case -were thoroughly presented. Justice Brasher held that the state had failed to connect con-nect the defendant with the disappearance disappear-ance of the heifer in question, and ordered Mr. Hansen to be discharged. ORANGEVILLE A farewell party at R. Logan's last night. Mrs. Jane Neilsen is still on sick list and not improving any. A. G. Jewkes and family have gone to Salt Lake conference and al30 to be at the farewell party given to Elder Delos Jewkes, who starts in a few days for Africa on a mission. FERRON Mrs. Kate WillUms of Price is visiting visit-ing with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Cox. The stake officers of the M. I. A. ' met with the Ferron M. I. A. workers Tuesday night. The junior story telling was won by Madine Blackburn. New dances were learned. Mrs. Chas. Larsen of Price is visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. P. Thompson. C. R. Killpack, H. A. Nelson, and Henry Thompson are the owners of new Ford cars. . Mrs. D. A. Lowry and Mrs. C. K. Jensen returned from Manti Saturday where they attended the funeral of their father, Erick Ludvigsen. Mrs. J. W. Behling returned from Salt Lake Citv last week. Mr. Behhng was able to leave the hospital and is expected ex-pected home in the near future. The Home Economics club met Thursday Thurs-day afternoon. A very entertaining meeting was given under the direction of the Civic Pride committee. An excellent ex-cellent musical program was rendered. Mr. and Mrs. Claud Funk are rejoicing rejoic-ing over the arrival of a baby boy. The post office changed hands April 1, N. J. Christensen being the new post master. Miss Lillian Nelson will succeed N. J. Christensen in the school room. Miss Theora Crawford, an E. S. A. student, has discontinued school. CLEVELAND Mrs. Christina Pherson has been very sick for a long time, her daughter, Mrs. B u-ney Johnson of Sunnyside, is stay-i stay-i ig with her now. We were visited early last Monday mornina; by quite a snow storm. Will Gibbs of Hiawatha visited at the Whimpey home last week. Albert Pherson and family have come down from Hiawatha to make their home in Cleveland this summer. The home Economics class will give a social tonight (Thursday). Wellington came up on Saturday to play ball. A game of baseball was pi lyed in tne afternoon and basketball in the evening. Cleveland came out victorious in all the games. A dance followed at the Davis hall. Some of our people went over to Price Wednesday to witness the big ball game over there. Joseph Rasmussen and family motored motor-ed down from Helper Saturday, returning return-ing Sunday. Einar Erickson has sold his farm south of town to Samuel Godfrey of Salt Lake for a considerat on of $2500. Tommy Dumayne of Price visited in Cleveland last week. Mr. and Mrs. R. 0. Rasmussen are enjoying a visit with their daughter, Ruby of Sunnyside, the latter's home having burned down recently. |
