Show (Snty Qk I- - ORANGEV1LLE Mothers Day was observed Sunday, the 14th, in a very appropriate manner. The Ladies Aid Club got up a very nice program and it was rendered in a Tery pleasing manner. The mothers were in the great majority and every one was ready to do his part and the meeting was made a grand success, thanks to our blessed mothers in Israel. Mrs. Fanny Fox presided. John H. Cox and wife welcomed an increase of another boy in the last few days and all doing well. Leo Moffitt came home from the reservation shearing corral a few days ago sick with what has been pronounced as tick fever but is now improving. W. H. Jewkes came home to get away from it but he took down with it after he reached home and is now sick. This makes about twenty men who have been taken sick at the same corral and had to quit their jobs before they were through. Bert Childs had to go to the hospital in Vernal but is now convalescing. convales-cing. Quite a number of the young men of the town have gone up on Straight canyon can-yon road to work. There must be about 30 men at work now in the canyon can-yon and we understand that more will be employed in a few days. If the amendment to the pension bill just passed by the senate and house of represenatives becomes a law, Orange-ville Orange-ville will have nine veterans and four widows of veterans who will be beneficiaries bene-ficiaries of the act. It is only a short a short time since we counted 21 but the Reaper has cut them down and we see them no more. Though late in the day it will be & fitting recognition of the hardships they passed through fifty years ago' or more. CLEVELAND Mrs. Maud Jensen, who was operated on last week, was in a very critical condition con-dition at first but is now reported to be getting along nicely. All the other sick patients are reported report-ed to be on the improve. The town board is very busy at present getting everything set in running run-ning order. They have employed Atty. F. E. Woods to draw up their incorporation incorpor-ation papers. Joseph Hanson has been appointed marshall at a salary of $10.00 per month. Einar Erickson was appointed ap-pointed clerk-treasurer, salary to be fixed later. A large number of our saints attended conference held at Ferron last week. We are pleased to note that Miss Emma Johnson has again been honored by being permitted to enter the state contest, this time as a debater, and we have been informed that the C. C. H. S., which school she represented, came out second in the contest and that Miss-Emma Miss-Emma had been classed as a star debater. |
