Show NATIONAL PROGRAM CARRIED OUT AT FERRON The only town in the county to do so, Ferron followed out, In its observance observ-ance of the nation's birthday, the program pro-gram outlined by the National Council of Defense for like exercises everywhere every-where in the country. The circulars sent out by the national body in which ( was outlined a complete program including in-cluding an outline for a patriotic-pageant, failed to reach the officers of the i Emery County Council of Defense in j time to get the matter before the other j towns of the county, j F. A. Killpack, acted as celebration ; chairman and H fitting program had been practically completed when it was adapted to the national outline. The numbers as given follow: Song, "America" by the audience. Prayer, Chaplain H. P. Rasmussen. "Pledging of Allegiance," by 13 little lit-tle girls in charge of Miss Gwen Kill-, pack. Reading of Declaration of Independence Indepen-dence by Wm. Dugmore. Song, Miss Edrie Pettey. A Short Talk by MacLloyd Killpack. Following- the program given above, the pageant of freedom was staged. Not a word of diologue was spoken, but the idea was so well represented that tears filled many an eye in thebig audience as the different phases were pictured. Miss Laura Rasmussen represented "Humanity" and was accompanied by fo,ur happy children. The Refugees were represented by W. H. Worthen, Mr. and Mrs. Wilburn Conover, Mrs. OliviA Dugmore, George Killpack, and the C. R. Killpack twin babies. Justice was .represented by Miss Vera Stevens, with Bruce and Kate Easley as aides. The Allied Nation were represented by 21 little girls. Freedom was represented by Miss Clara Nelson with Misses Dora Llewellyn Llew-ellyn and Reta Conover as aides. Food Supply was represented by Miss Arvilla Hansen. The Warrior was represented by William Rasmussen. War Loan was represented by Arthur Ar-thur Peterson. Red Cross was represented by Miss Lura Funk. A big dance in the high school auditorium audi-torium brought the day's celebration to a fitting close. |
