The steps taken .by Great Britain End announced in statements from both the British embassy and stat department remedy some of the com plaints made by the United States in its recent note to Great Britain, and the plans encouraged administration officials in the'" hope that commerce with the Scandinavian countries and other neutral nations also would bo improved. The statements indicated that so far as Italy and Holland are concerned the British government now believes the danger of getting contraband articles ar-ticles through those countries to Germany Ger-many and Austria has praotically been removed. Should effective measures be agreed upon between the allies and the other neutrals of Europe, American Ameri-can commerce, it is thought by British Brit-ish officials, will not be subject to the delays and interference complained of in the American note. |
