Show "FARMERS DAY" SOON As I stated through the press several weeks ago, we intend to again hold "Farmers Day" in most of the settlements settle-ments in the two counties. Everybody, who possibly can, should take advantage advant-age of this fathers, mothers, and older old-er boys and girls of the farm. The crowd in each settlement should be much larger this year than it was last. This is an excellent opportunity for farmers and business men to visit the farms of their neighbors, and to get new ideas from others. Every farmer should make a strong effort to be present "Farmers Day", in my estimation, will be a means of persuading the farmers farm-ers to use better methods. Better agriculture agri-culture makes a better county from all standpoints to live in. Following i- the complete schedule: Green River, Wednesday, August 4th Wellington Friday, " 6th Price Saturday, " 7th Elmo Monday, " 9th Cleveland Tuesday, " 10th Huntington .. Wednesday, " Uth Castledale Thursday, " 12th Orangeville Friday, " 13th Ferron, Saturday, " 14th Emery Monday, " 16th Everybody boost for "Farmers Day", come out, have a good time, get new ideas, and continue boosting for your town, your county, your state always. Every farmer should make field seed selection of his crops this year for the purpose of having a seed plat this coming com-ing year in order to have better seed for planting. Now is the time to start to make land selections of your cereal crops, namely: oats, wheat, and barley. Choose very strong, health prolific plants in the field. This method of selection should insure you of strong, healthy, good yielding plants for next year. A half of a burlap sack of grain' heads this year should, if properly planted, multiply multi-ply sufficiently to plant a large acreage three years hence. Do not forget your seed selection work, farmers, as it is the best method of insuring heavy, healthy plant production pro-duction on the farm for years to- come. Do not depend on your neighbors for your seed supply. Often when seed looks good it may be low in vitality and may be a very poor yielder. You cannot can-not tell what its yielding power will be if you select from the grain bin. This season is now a good time to cease guessing. Let us make our selections in the field and De sure we are getting the proper plants. Once more, all boost for "Farmers Day." Very respectfully, ROBERT H. STEWART, Farm Demonstrator Carbon and Emery counties; Agent U. S- Department of Agriculture. |
