The second business year of the present administration, which closed June 30, showed a deficit of $35,864,381, compared with a surplus sur-plus for the year ending June 30, 1914, of $34,418,677. Official explanations will not be 'issued until the figures for the year are analyzed by Secretary McAdoo, but on the face of the records it is apparent 4Jiat receipts were much smaller, an enormous reduction in customs revenue resulting from the war, while disbursements were much greater. |
