Show MARRIAGE WILL NOT EXEMPT. General Crowder Announces Drastic Amendment to Draft Regulations. Washington. Marriage since the enactment en-actment of the selective draft law no longer will be accepted as cause for exemption from military service, except ex-cept in the cases of men who have become be-come of age since June 5, 1017, who may be exempted if they married before be-fore January 15, 1918, the date on which the joint resolution requiring their registration was introduced in congress. Drastic amendments to the draft regulations were announced June 14 by Provost Marshal General Crowder, under which local boards are required to reclassify all cases involving such marriages. Dependency claims on account ac-count of children of such marriages will be allowed where children are "born or unborn before June !), 1918." |
