Show GET RID OF THE SQUEAKS Annoying Noises That Are Frequent ' Even in the Best-Built Houses Can Be Stopped. There are very few houses Thick do not have floors that are a!war5 squeaking as persons walk over then. Such squeaking is very annoying, a;j many different suggestions have been inade to remedy the nuisance, but, curiously cu-riously enough, only a few of the suggestions sug-gestions have proven of any reU value. Many persons think the squeakin; ;s caused by the flooring boards not being be-ing properly nailed, but in most casis this is not the case at all. The tongues and grooves of the narrow nar-row boards do not always fit together togeth-er exactly tight, and a little press;: on either side of the crack and between be-tween Joints, where the boards vt nailed, will cause the boards to sprirg slightly, causing the disagreeaLS squeaking sounds. The best remedy for a squeaky ";:r Is to apply a little liquid glue to tie cracks. This can be done by d!;;::5 a thin strip of metal in the glue tii inserting carefully in the crack at lis point from which the sound comes. A knife blade can be used to ply the glue.
