Show Carbon-Emery Roundup at Huntington, Nov. 17-23 As I announced last week, we are going to be greatly privileged in having hav-ing a Round-up or Farmers' and House Keepers' Conference here in Eastern Utah this year. The Utah Agricultural College has come to our support by giving this six days of school. It is the first RounJ-up to be held in the history of Eastern Utah. The College is placing plac-ing on itself a great expense in sending this group of men and women from the College to meet with us. Their transportation, board, and lodging expenses ex-penses will amount to much, to say nothing noth-ing about the expenses incurred by them from the standpoint of salary. Now then, people, to show our appreciation appre-ciation and gratitude to the officials of the College Extension Division we must get behind this move and support the week's convention by seeing 10 it that we are each in attendance. Go and register for this course. There is not a stockraiser, a general farmer, a house wife, a business man or woman, or an upper student, but will be able to learn enough new ideas about his business at any one of these seventeen or nineteen, meetings to strongly justify them in in attending this convention. The Convention will t e held at Huntington Hun-tington as it is the most centrally located loca-ted town for the two counties. This convention is a Carbon and Emery County week's school and we want both Counties to support ic. Transportation charges and board and lodging will be plased at a minimum rate, so that it will be very inexpensive. Hotel arrangements will be made to take care of all who attend. The program has not yet been fully made out, but "we will probably have some, or all of the following speakers: Prof. John T. Caine, who will address us on all types of livestock from the standpoints of meat, feeding and marketing, mar-keting, the different cuts of meat, will t lk on animal diseases and their ccn-tiol, ccn-tiol, and will probably give a public clinic; Professor Louis Windsor, who will give talks on irrigation and drainage, drain-age, water measurement, etc; and Ben R. Eldridge, who will give some excell-ant excell-ant talks on the dairy cow and her care, stable sanitation, etc, (the big coming industry for this part of the State and we can't learn too much about it; Miss McCheyne, who wiil talk to the women and girls on many hom. economic subjects sub-jects such as home sanitatior prefer care of milk for infants, home decoration, decor-ation, labor saving devices, etc. : Miss Fox, who will probablv give talks on other phases of home economics, such as dividing of the dollar, economy in the home etc. Professor James Hog-enson, Hog-enson, head of the boys and girl clubs, j and a number of good local speak-! speak-! ers from each county on topics with ' which they are very familiar and are ; making successes in. We have meat cutting demonstrations and many other things that will be very educational. The success of this Round-up will mean the permanency at the course for future years.'' I appeal to the educational educat-ional men and women, the bishop- of the wards, and presidents of stakes, the presidents of the farmers organizations and home economics club3, in fact, to every man and woman in these two counties, to act as a commit'ea of one, and help to make this grand move a success. The High Schools and Academies are getting behind the move with earnestness, earnest-ness, and are going to assist us with choruses, quartets, musical selections, and especially, with their presence at least two days out of the six. Everybody boost for this grand move, boost for your counties and State, boost for everything that will uplift, and that will aid in raising this part of State to a higher plane, and soon we will have thriving communities here. Our fu'ure possibilities, I believe, be-lieve, will be most strongly realized through the development of our Agriculture. Agri-culture. We are just in our infancy. Very recpectfullv, R032RT H. STEWART, Agriculturist Carb-m and Emery Co.; Agent U. S. Dept. of Agriculture. |
