The rroject, as proposed by Streets Commissioner Jess A. Agraz, would have widened the 6th and 6th East block of Oth South to handle five lanes of traffic lanes. It also included plans to and two parking improve curbs and gutters in the area. Opponents of the proposal contended that the area was set aside by the city aster mlan as a residential area and should remain as one They also claimed that safety of pedestrians would be jeopardized, structural damage to area homes would be inflicted and noi se and air pollution would increase to partly cloudy with showers in far northwest and warmer.
